Kinetic recovery strap

Guys, not trying to start a fight, but what makes it kinetic is the material, not the weave. Flat nylon straps stretch - ARB's strap stretches and it's flat.

FWIW there are video reviews on Amazon, it appears to stretch. I'm not really in a position to test it myself though.

For kinetic, needs to be a rope, not flat webbing. Rock climbing gear is a great example. The flat webbing that you bought may have some stretch, and may be very nice for towing, it’s not static enough to be used as a tree saver, and not stretchy enough to work for kinetic- you have some tweener product. The weave does matter, especially around a fat core. When you stretch a kinetic rope, the fibers don’t stretch as much as one might think, and it’s that weave around a core that helps provide the illusion of a stretch.

For the safety of myself and others, I wouldn’t touch that product with a 10’ pole, and I wouldn’t waiste my money on it - get the right tool for the job. You have an elegant tow rope, that’s it. Don’t cut corners on safety products.

Just b/c it has some stretch, I personally would NOT use that for a kinetic recovery. Soft pulls for sure; and I don’t want stretch in a tree-saver/anchor-point. I honestly wouldn’t buy that ARB strap either, in part b/c I already have a kinetic rope and a fairly static tow strap.

I never said that anything was crap, those are your words, not mine. I am however, trying to help you stay safe. If you want some mitigating detail and evidence, might I suggest that you do you own research, to formulate your own opinions, by going through deaths during off-road recovery’s. Also, look into fields/areas where they are used for life support ( like a factor fall or 2 factor fall ). Again, am just trying to keep you, your family and friends, safe.

Here’s the danger scenario: 1st tug or 2nd tug didn’t work, now what’s the next step? Does the pulling vehicle just send it? You may not be in control of that vehicle either.

I ended up going with Rhino USA. Tow strap, snatch strap, and soft shackles. Paired everything with the same weight rating so there is no weak link.
