Largest roof basket that doesn't interfere with front Freedom panels

Sup guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for the largest roof basket I can fit without effecting my ability to remove the two front Freedom Panels.

Smittybilt makes one that accomplishes this for the JL as pictured here:

I actually own this for my JT and it's an amazing rack. When I purchased it I didn't think I'd miss my Freedom Panels as much as I did but with Fall weather coming having access to those panels is a must.

On the flip side I've gotten so accustomed to throwing shit on the roof that not having any basket feels weird and makes my truck look bald.

Does anyone know of a roof basket big enough to take up the bulk of the real estate of the back panel? I know the V-shape makes finding a similar product to Smittybilt's JL version difficult.

And before people ask, the rack is just heavy and large enough to make it a 2-person job otherwise I'd have no problem taking it off and on when needed.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. It's pricey but the ARS OverCab for the JT will all for the freedom panels or the entire top to be removed.

Maximus-3 roof rack allows freedom panels or thr entire hard top to be removed. The pioneer platform has railing options to make it more of a basket.

Rhino Rack has a 36"L x 56"W in their Pioneer Platform that would probably work. I have it on my list of things to buy for my truck as well for this exact reason.

JC Off-road has a half rack. Interference will depend on the basket you install, if any.

I have the Rugged Ridge one, no complaints at all. It's one of the bigger half sizes I think, it goes all the way to the back of the roof and overlaps the Freedom Panels by a tad but doesn't prevent them from coming off. You just have to come up and forward at an angle.

Thanks for all the responses. Considering I spent just under $300 for this Smittybilt basket (open box), I'm not sure if it's worth the change @ double-triple the amount (at this time at least).

Thanks.. this and the JC offroad are definitely contenders. Personally can't spend more than $800 for something that's half the size of the basket I currently own.

This was my initial thought. My soldering/brazing doesn't quite translate to welding so I would have to find a shop to get it done. Based on these prices seems to be the most affordable option

Yeah and if you measure everything up well and cut it yourself you can minimize the labor costs a lot. Go for it!

The Frontrunner Slimline works great if you want to be able to carry a lot of weight. Easy to remove the panels. Sounds like it's over the budget you allocated for the rack though. It also requires a permanent install with drilling through the top.
