Hey guys,

So my 21 Rubicon ended up having the right rear axle leak like everyone else. Dropped it off at the dealership on December 12th and just got it back yesterday. Before I left the lot I looked underneath the truck and noticed it was still leaking. They had the techs look at it and they wiped it off. They told me it most be excess oil and to keep and eye on it. I looked at it today and noticed it's still leaking.

The upsetting part of this is that they didn't take the time to make sure it got fixed properly. The truck is still under warranty and while the truck was at the dealership I wasn't given a loaner or an option for a rental.

What's your guys thoughts?
A loaner is not guaranteed, and is only supplied in Jeep Wave for certain maintenance things.

I started a thread about what I found when I replaced mine a little while ago. If you decide to fix it yourself instead of waiting on the dealer again, (and likely having same issue again) check the sealing surface and opening.

I absolutely get going the DIY route - but not everyone has access to the tools to remove and replace the bearing, or wants to spend the money on the bearing AND the seal.

I've seen perfectly good new seals ruined on a bad sealing surface, or replaced because of the fitment in the tube over the decades.

It was easier and cheaper to get a new shaft with bearing and seal pre-pressed on.

that's why Jeep handles the warranty axle leaks that way............

That's the FCA method of repair. And frankly, I'm glad...........
Same here. I’m happy as a clam lol. Fingers crossed that I never have the leak issue again. I plan to regear soon so I guess I’ll be on my own after that ha

My dealer is getting me a whole new axle for that reason.
Going through this now with my 21 Gladiator. To my shock, the dealer is not replacing the entire axle assembly, but are going to try and rebuild the bearing, ring, and seal. I expect this to not end well and has been a big enough issue now that the Jeep is out of the 3/36 warranty. Apparently the 5/60 powertrain don't mean much. Jeep is still at the dealer with the tech sick so no work today on it...

It was odd that they replaced the whole differential assembly,
it was not odd that they replaced the entire right axle assembly.
It likely (just a guess) costs Jeep more to pay a tech the time to disassemble the old parts off the axle, and then press the new parts on.

On the other hand, maybe they have found the actual issue and are no longer replacing the major parts and requesting them back for analysis?

Yea we shall see! I will try to be optimistic but keeping expectations in check. I just expected the right axle assembly to be replaced as per the Customer Satisfaction bulletin. That would have been an hour of work and sounds like I won't get it back till Friday now. Worst case it doesn't work and I will just get some chromoly axles and swap them out myself.
