First rule of car sales: Get them in the door.
Second rule of car sales: Don’t let them leave.

This lease stunt with a ridiculous high residual was nothing more than that. I fell for it today and wasted time out of my life chasing the white whale they use to achieve rule one.

Thinking back through all my car purchases in my life, it one has ever been positive, but if it involved Chrysler, they were always the worse. I’ve owned an loved jeeps, but I’m out on playing with Chrysler again.

I know I will never buy a GM or Ford again. I will only deal with Mopar.

I was told by a GM at a dealership that the residual on a Rubicon is 70% on a 36 month 12K mile lease.

I talked to my dealer last Saturday. They use 4 different leasing companys. Once I have a sticker they will run everything and get pricing for all 4. They said one is usually the clear winner.

I let them know I wanted to see the data for all four. I have done enough of the math that to be able to make some quick decisions. Plus I want to read the fine print for the turn in rules. Best monthly payment is not what I am looking for but would be nice.

They also let me know that they are holding the price to 1% under invoice on my LE. Which I think is very fair.

When building Jeeps online you'd need a Rubicon with basically most packages selected to hit 60k. Their MSRP seems a bit off.

I saw today that Gladiator is projected to be at 90% in 24 months. So you're saying they told you 70% at 36 months? That's a pretty drastic drop in a year. Regardless, the lease payments should be L O W on a Gladiator so don't let a dealership rob you!

That's what he told me, I agree that lease payment should be low and this is the reason I have been perusing a lease on a Rubicon, but I am getting quoted high payments for some reason. I will be the last person to get robbed by a dealership, I know their games and have had some interesting conversations with some of them.

Your right it does have almost every option! Not that i wanted it that way but that's how all of them are that are sitting on dealer lots.

I was also quoted almost $5000 of MSRP same jeep from another deal for $614 per month. Believe i'm going to get that one! Seems like a really good deal.

Just for comparisons sake i have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro that i'm leasing for 35 months currently at about $600 per month. That vehicle was about $45,000 sale price.

So this jeep being at $56,000 after discounts for $614 per month seems like it's a really good deal.

Just some insight.

1. how do you cross out a word like that? I can't find "strikethrough".

2. When i was in 9th grade we were all given a little red booklet called the Write Right book. Lots of good info in that thing.
