The set-up: stock 2020 Gladiator Sport-S, running Overland 18's with the Duehler A/T tires.
I want the MOPAR 2" lift, and some more aggressive tires for occassional off-roading (not rock climbing, but there are rocky spots).
I'm still a bit confused on the tire sizing. I'm so used to classic muscle cars...15", 16", 17", offsets...215/70 R 15...255/50 R 18 etc.
I want more tire, but no rub. I've read on here that the 18" rims I have would be good for a 12.5 width 35" tire. Especially since I'm going with a 2" lift. But the 18" rim size will limit my tire choices. So, if I go with 17" rim, I'll need more sidewall to keep the same tire size (i.e. diameter). I currently have 32" diameter. A 35" diameter gives me about 1.5" additional clearance with the tire size increase, and then the 2" lift gets my ass up in the air another 2". I'm scraping or thudding on some of the trails..i figure the 3.5" extra will give me what I need, and not break the bank.
So, do I try and repurpose the 18" rims? (I'm thinking not). Do I get 17" rims, and then how do I order them and the tires? Do I ask for 35" 12.5s?
I have a budget of $2k-ish. Thoughts please
Merry Christmas to me!
