Hey all, I’m going to start modding my gladiator overland. I’m new to this so forgive me if some of what I’m asking has been asked before or seems dumb. I just want to make sure I do it right from the beginning and looking for advice from those thatve been there done that.
I have a 21, overland. It’s my daily driver. I live in Florida and probably won’t need to be able to do serious rock crawling as there’s just not a lot of that here. Back in Colorado it would’ve been a different story lol. Anyway, I want to add a small lift. Just want better look, lose the rake, and be able to accommodate no more than a 35” tire in the future. I know I want to go with a suspension lift vs a body lift but that’s where my knowledge ends. I was thinking I had to go mopar to not hurt my extended warranty but it’s been pointed out that is not entirely true.
So, with that being said, are there any kits you suggest?

Once I lift the truck, what other things will I need to mod or adjust/replace/upgrade in order to maintain the ride quality and not cause damage to other components?

eventually I’ll add larger tires, I know I’ll need to regear at that point and I know adding lockers would be best to do at that time as well, any recommendations on kits?

lastly, with any lift kit, will they typically add or require new shocks in the rear as well or just up front?

anything I missed or you feel like adding let me know as well. Thanks everyone.

Mine is a '21 Overland with the AEV Suspension (with the drop brackets), Terraflex 1 1/2" spacer in front to level it out, Clayton front track bar, and 285/70 18 Ridge Grapplers (34") on AR Outlaw II (18x8, +30) wheels. I kept the original 3.73 gears for just over a year before having it regeared to 4:56.

I went with the Clayton 2.5" Ride Right. I thought it was the best value for the price. It includes everything you need except shocks.

This kit removes some of the factory rake, but not all of it. You can easily add a spacer in the front since the kit comes with adjustable arms and adjustable track bars. I think the slight amount of rake with this kit looks just right so I did not add a spacer.

Go to the dealer where you have it serviced. They are your first hurdle for any warranty coverage. Ask them about lift kits and warranties. It may not be an issue, or you may have to pay the dealer to install the Mopar lift kit to keep warranty coverage.

I had mine installed at the dealer to keep my warranty intact.

I have the Skyjacker 2.5" and bought a few extras to match up to the MOPAR lift kit. I bought it for less than the MOPAR kit and got more lift and better springs.

If I had paid for an extended warranty, I'd be sticking with the MOPAR lift and have it dealership installed. It's just not worth the hassle of an aftermarket kit giving them a reason to deny some warranty work. The kit also gets covered by the factory 3yr/36k warranty if you have any of that left, otherwise has it's own warranty that the Jeep dealership would cover for fixes/issues which 3rd party kits don't offer (shop time, not the parts themselves).

Keep in mind that anything you install that is different enough from OEM (and throws drivetrain loads/angles out of OEM spec) gives them reason to blame it for an issue they might choose not to warranty. This is why many suggest sticking with the MOPAR lift (or similar 2" lift max) and 35" tires to keep things as close as possible to things Jeep offers from the factory.

If/when you choose to regear from an independent shop, that's also going to void any warranty work on the axles, and give another thing that may affect warranty coverage for drivetrain components outside the axles.

My plan exactly. I figured I'd do it correctly from the get go. I'm about to order geo brackets, TF 1.5 spacers and Rancho track bar. I could just lift knowing the the axle isn't centered or shifted to one side even if it is a 1/4 inch. How do you like your setup? Does it drive like stock. Mine is a '21 Willys.

The LCA’s help add some badly needed caster. As a result, it drives better than stock.
Reprogrammed with Jscan and I still see 8th gear all the time without issue.
Admittedly I’m currently looking into a bit more lift and slightly larger tires, though this setup has served me quite well.

Do you want tire clearance or set up for particular type of off-roading while maintaining good highway manners?

It’s my daily so road manners and ride are priority. For the off road stuff I’m likely to do stock would honestly be fine by gaining a little extra clearance wouldn’t hurt.
