Well my Brothers, the deed is done. What started on October 25th 1983 has come to an end.
Today is my last day aboard MCAGCC/MAGTFTC and tomorrow I’ll be heading to the Central Valley to start a new journey with my granddaughter and get knee deep into my second retirement.
Did 20 years active duty then stepped straight into Government Contract and Civil Service with the Marine Corps. It’s been a long strange trip and it is ending a little sooner than I had anticipated but my hand was forced and fortunately I’m at a place in life where I don’t have to be subjected to human experiments if I don’t choose to do so.
Damn sure going to miss the camaraderie and esprit de corps but I’m looking forward to meeting some of you fine folks out on the trail and starting up some new friendships.

Now if Jeep would just hurry up and release Gobi, Gator, or Tuscadero for the Gladiator I can get on with my journey!

Congrats and thank you for your service. I would love to wheel with you some time. Ever make it out to Colorado?

Thanks for both your uniformed and civilian service. I'm in the same boat as you...will probably retire @70 years of age (have 2 still in high school, started late in life). Have one request of you; while overlanding, if you see an old lady trying to push her husband up into a Jeep driver's seat; will you help my wife, please?

I sure plan to. Went through a couple of times back in the early 2000’s heading back to 29 Palms from National Matches at Camp Perry Ohio.
Loved what I saw from the Interstate. Hard to believe that a state as beautiful as Colorado borders Kansas!?

Congrats brother---you're way more of a masochist than me.

Did 3 CAX 90-93 and then deployed there on my way to Desert Shield/Storm and Somalia. As I went up in rank had to visit the Palms many times. So glad I never got orders there.

You must have been like all the others idjits sent there---kicking and screaming and then a year later [after the sun/heat/dust and dirt fried your brain] thought it was a great place.

You have my highest regard for serving the Corps for almost 40 years---especially in a hell hole like that.

Hope to meet you out on the road Jeeping.
