I bought a second hand locking storage bin and have yet to find anyone to re-key it! Has anyone had any luck with having one re-keyed? I have contacted 3 dealerships in my area and none of them knew how to do it. I have a locksmith researching it, recommended by a dealership, and waiting for him to get back to me. :headbang:

Should be a $50 charge at the dealer....since you have to order the lock cylinder part either way, order it and see what comes in it. If its the cylinders with the lock gates, i can walk you through it over the phone or you can make it to me with a key and ill do it for you.

its very “specific” process, but not a hard one. Im getting ready to get the kit for my truck and will do a how to video if you arent in a hurry.

Great on the how to video. I couldn't find part numbers for the lock cylinders and I guess the lock gate is the part the cylinder is in. I tried taking out the screws to remove the assembly, but couldn't do anything after removing the screws.

Would you give me the part numbers, so I can Google them, just to look. I don't mind paying you to do it for me, either.

Is there a lock cylinder in there? Or just a face?

The locksmith just got back with me and said he couldn't find out how to work on it. Suggested I contact the manufacturer. I told him I didn't speak Chinese, or Spanish. Don't really know where it is made.

im starting to think its a different style of cylinder than i thought it was. Usually these lock cylinders are like a cartridge that you load the locking gates into to figure out how to key. But any lock smith would know how to do that.

I know this is slightly off topic. I was looking to purchase an under seat storage bin. allmoparparts.com, one of the site sponsors, has the bin for sale. I ask in the forum's if the locks come with it, and Benny was not sure. See post https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...king-under-seat-storage-box.36779/post-637873

The problem the OP has, has had me worried about purchasing a used bin. That is why I was thinking of going to allmpoarparts.com, but I'm worried about having a lock issue if I purchase that way.

Time to go to the lockpickinglawyer...

ok. looked at it some more.

So. These are the lock gates for the cylinder. can you get the cylinder out? If you can, then we just need to find more of the correct lock gates, and from there it isnt hard. Its basically playing a jigsaw puzzle until your key turns the cylinder; but the gates have to be the correct ones in order to do so. They *should* be the same gates used in any lock on the vehicle.

@AllMoparParts.com can you weigh in on rekeying these things?
