The Locksmith who did mine said all they needed where the cylinders to rekey it so I gave them the lockbox and the cylinders and they am assuming reused other parts from the original lock or had the other parts on hand themself

I ordered mine yesterday. Do you know what size drill bit to use and how deep do you have to drill?

It would have been I think maybe easy for Jeep to create some sort of way that the seat bottom just locked in place with the key

Dropped the two lids and lock cylinders off at a locksmith. Possibly get them back Monday.

Very understandable. Family comes first and hope everything is ok! I feel more comfortable having a locksmith do it, especially since he estimated it at $40.00.

I dropped the lids off on Feb.6 and have been in weekly touch with the locksmith, who is well established in the community. I have stayed in weekly contact with him and he would tell me he thought he was close, but still trying to remove the cylinders without drilling. Friday, he told me he is giving up, because he doesn't want to damage the lids. I picked them up, yesterday and set them in the corner of the garage. A little later I said to myself, what the hell! I got my drill with 7/16 bit, an awl and needle nose pliers. After about 10 minutes of careful drilling and pulling out pieces of the cylinder, I successfully removed the lock cylinder. Next problem! I have been searching through YouTube videos and have not found how to key this particular lock cylinder (Mopar Part# 68384451AB). I found one for a Jeep Wrangler locking gas cap cylinder replacement, but is a little different, so no cigar. Looks like another trip to a locksmith, or my local Jeep dealership. :headbang:

Figured it out, BUT! I got the gates and lock pin in the cylinder and everything was as it should be. With the key out, the gates stuck out and with the key in, the gates were flush with the lock cylinder. Aligned the cylinder with the lid lock opening, pushed it in and rotated it clockwise until it locked in place. Pulled the key out and the case was locked. Put the key in an attempted to rotate the key counter clockwise and it wouldn't rotate. Case is locked and the key doesn't work! What the *#@*!

I just received a locking storage unit from a fellow forum member today. Waiting on lock cylinders. After reading this thread, I'm hoping I can get those locks replaced and keyed correctly without too much effort.

Looking forward to more input from anyone that has successfully conquered this.

Did you ever make a video? At 19:50 in the video, the locking pin goes in. If you somehow forgot to install that then the pins would all come out and you won’t get the cylinder to work.
