Hey all, I’m looking for some summer top options to run in these warmer months. I’m looking for something simple actually.
I live in WV and anyone who lives here Can attest to how unique the environment is. The mornings and Evenings can be quite cold, especially in the fall and spring. Sometimes it can be as low as 35 and mid day as high as 90. It can also be wet and rains often sometimes without much warning. I don’t think it’s Seattle wet but there is a fair amount of rain.

I’d like to find something that will give me some reprieve from the cold on my morning drive to work, and keep me dry during those sudden downpours. Yet also something that I can Easily go from sheltered to top off rather quickly. It doesn’t have to fully waterproof. I have no more carpet so pools of water in the floor pan won’t bother me. It also doesn’t have to be quiet, the extra volume will just help drown out the wife and kids.

I looked at the Masterbuilt top on Quady, but that doesn’t look like something easy to take on and off. That’s the general idea I’m going for though. Something like that but I can still be covered when it rains and not frozen in the morning.

anyone know of a product like this?

rugged ridge voyager top might fit your needs. front can fold back like the sunrider, back can also fold forward so both front and back folded portions rest above the sound/roll bar.

I'm in a similar situation as you, want to go topless but hard to with the morning commute still in the low 50s, also worried about a downpour on my ride home. i have a bestop sunrider and love it, that's been my current setup. but i might go topless and front doors off when it gets a bit warmer. looking at maybe the rugged ridge brief top as a quick install cover in case of rain during the commute (i park inside both at home and at work)

I looked at the Sunrider also and it doesn’t look like what I’m wanting either. It’s expensive for what it is, It only exposes the front seats and opens less than simply just taking the freedom panels off.

I was looking for something I can totally physically remove, roll up and throw in the bed of the truck, then slap back on quickly.

I’ve been eyeballing the voyager top as well, but it’s over 1k now…seems steep for some cloth and metal.

This past thread might be helpful.

On my previous Wrangler I had a SpiderWebShade plus a Bestop Safari Cable Style Bikini Top. It used the door surrounds as well as a header bar where the roof attached and it was pretty amazing even at highway speeds. For the most part I only ran the Bikini top when there was some light rain in the forecast. I'm debating about one for the Gladiator, view here, but like my JKU it wants a header bar and door surrounds, they do make them without the need for the door surrounds as well.

IMO a soft top without the necessary hardware as in OEM will be loud and floppy on hwy

Just replace your hard top with the Jeep Premium soft top and be done with it. I put mine on years ago and it has never come off. 10 second on or off and if you want to take it off completely like maybe 5 minutes

not too concerned about road noise or wind or flapping or anything in a jeep. Just want to be not cold and wet when I go to work lol.

1500 dollars is robbery for that though. I’m cheap. Looking for a cheap option. Wouldn’t mind trading someone for one or selling my hard top To buy one though.

I bought it new but I got mine in the aftermarket for much cheaper if you can find one. I sold my hard top after I was sure I liked the soft top and the hard top would not go back on

This will be my second year with the Voyager on my JT and third year with one on my wife’s JLU. Both run hard tops during fall and winter, Voyager during spring and summer.

It’s well worth the money to have a top that gives that “almost” topless feel but is there when you need it in a pinch. As mentioned above, it will fold up above the soundbar.

Send a message to @RealTruck here and see if they are still running a forum special. It was well below the $1000 you mentioned.

From the completely folded position as shown, it takes maybe 10 minutes to return to completely covered. It takes about 3 minutes to return to a safari top style setup.
