Depends who you ask
I appreciate everybody’s input, I weighed my options and spoke with my local Offroad shop I trust. I ended up going with the steel LOD destroyer rock sliders. They are pretty high and tight to the body and gives my short wife a decent step lol it also hides the pinch seam well while mounting to the frame. Seems to cover everything I need without sacrificing too much. I will be testing these out on the Rubicon in July and give an update to how they hold up. Thank you to everybody as you gave me a lot to think about.

It’s only been a couple days but I’m curious about any first impressions. Did you do the install? Or the local shop? Just curious how it went. I’m in a similar situation needing a step but a slider as well. To cheap to go RSE plus I’d still be nervous about bashing them on rocks. I know the LOD steps are popular on the Wrangler forum.

I've run LoD on multiple jeeps now, but I've been scared away from the Destroyer steps being used as a slider based on the reports of them pushing up into the tub on the JLs. Unfortunately, I've seen it firsthand on one in my local Jeep club. Here is the thread to the Wrangler forums:

LOD destroyer sliders issue | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) -- Rubicon, 4xe, 392, Sahara, Sport - JLwranglerforums.com

Hopefully this has been resolved and this is no longer an issue, but seeing this in person has me looking elsewhere. Probably RockHard, RSE, EVO, or something along those lines.

I'm about to order a RockHard Patriot angled UP set soon. I'll have the local shop slap em on when they do my Clayton lift. Looked a long time, and feel good about the RockHards.

I haven’t really drove it all except from the shop, I went on a two week vacation. I will give an update after a few days. I did have the shop put them on since they were doing my tie rod and drag link.

Here’s my update after the Rubicon trail. I used the sliders A LOT! I was even coming down and using them to pivot the gladiator’s long butt through. The verdict is they did fairly well, they got scratched up and dented. However I do see where they did slightly go into the body. I know when it’s sliders or steps you can’t have one without sacrificing in the other category so the fact that they went into the body is kind of a fail from solely the rock slider side of things but they still did extremely well and it could of been a lot worse. I still give them a solid 8/10 as a step/slider. They got used a lot, and the damage to the body is very slight.

We did the Rubicon a couple of months ago. Five rigs, three with Rock Hard sliders. Two JLUs and my Gladiator, the sliders took a beating but none of them moved toward the body even a little bit. The also work fine as step when you get the down angled version.

Another Rock Hard angled down pic.
This might be a strange request, but can you measure the distance between the step and the bottom of the door frame? Just trying to see how much of a difference in ease of stepping on there would be if I got these instead of the N-fab Amazon rails I have. Thank you.

Another vote for the Rock Hard; Patriot Angled Down sliders. Love mine. I used skateboard tape on mine to give it some friction on the top.

I sprayed them with bedliner prior to installation... gave them more texture and better grip 👍

Not as much as skateboard tape, for sure.

I went with GOAT Fabrication and I LOVE them. They look great and perform well. Adam, the owner, is also great with customer support. If there's any problem at all he's on top of it asap and gets you sorted out. I had an issue with one of them and he had another shipped out ASAP, no fuss at all.

They are angled up, obviously, and I opted for the step plates. GOAT offers flat as well. They bolt onto the frames which was an important feature for me and I'm happy I spent up on them.

these are from SAVVY.
Incredibly stout, replaceable shell and they make a great step. If you’re not sure footed by nature, some grip tape along the top angle makes in and out super easy.

they come in bolt on or weld on which is what I chose. Only slider on the market that could match the strength would be next venture but they dont work well as a step and they weigh a lot more

Such a great build. I follow the Nacho on insta. Love it. Off topic, but Is that Savvy rocker armor fastened via adhesive or screws?
