Hey guys. I want to mount the my Samsung S3 tablet for GPS. Since I don't need to see the radio all the time, I thought mounting it right it front would be the perfect place for it. I want to be able to remove it when I don't need it, I want it to be sturdy, flip up to access the radio, sit below the dash line, be oriented as shown in the picture, and be close up against the dash (radio).

I'll probably look for a case. If extra rigidness is needed for mounting in the down possession, I would use a magnet near the bottom to keep it steady.
If possible, I would like to be able to manipulate the tablet with one hand and have it stay it the up position while I was making adjustments to the radio.

So..........since just about every good idea has been had, I'd like to source the forum. If you know of a product, have an idea, or just want to let me know what you think I would appreciate the assistance to make this happen. Thanks forwarded...

Don't know of any mounts for that exact spot, but Carolina Metal Masters makes a 1" ball replacement machine bolt for the grab handle you can put a Ram Mount/Arm on it.

I run an iPad mini on mine for weather/topo/nav maps.

Ram makes a track that uses the factory bolts under the dash tray. Then you have tons of options. I'm using it with my Note9 and iPad Air.

I was having a similar dilemma but decided to just replace the radio with a Insane Audio JL3001. It's an Android device and integrates with the vehicle's systems. That way I don't have to worry about the tablet flying off or getting stolen. Just my .02

I feel like I cracked the code on this. I took a 67 designs 20mm ball system mated it to a ball mount and then installed 4 bolts through holes drilled in a case to the mount. I already had a case, so the whole mount cost just $18. Super solid over really rough terrain, sleek, and unobtrusive.

Case
Mount (I countersunk the holes in this mount so the bolts would sit flat in the case)

I then used the Carolina Metal Masters freedom panel mount (you JT guys have this.... right?) and mounted my iPad mini up by the sun visor. It's out of the way, close to my eyes, and doesn't scream steal me like a $1000 tablet on your dash.

Got pics of the setup? Sounds interesting.

I guess I timed it right. Mine shipped the next day. Just FYI, I bought the medium-length arm for my iPad (size C ball) and wish I would have gone with the long or the double socket swivel arm. Right now it sits right up against the dash and is pretty high in my field of view. The double-arm would allow it to move out and down. I'll probably end up ordering it soon.

I've been looking at this as an option just don't want it in my windshield. I'm sure I can use Ram mounts to get it down.
