Yeah, Hydro Bumps don't raise the truck, but they are important to the overall way a Mojave rides. Those Hyrdo bumps assist with the last quarter of compression travel to slow the body down before it bottoms out completely. Without these, you've only got half the Mojave suspension equasion. The fox 2.5s will ride better on the street, but still shouldn't be pushed through the woops without the hydro bumps, as the shock is valved to expect those to be there to assist before bottoming out.

Is that true? Why would an overland ride the best?
Because it's aimed at the comfy, daily driver, street and highway crowd - someone who won't off-road a lot or much, but want's a good ride and comfort. That's why the Overland came pretty well outfitted for comfort and convenience from the factory. ours rides and handles and drives like a dream. Been on multiple cross-country drives, sometimes driving non-stop except for fuel and restroom breaks - Colorado Springs to Des Moines was a non-stop drive save for gas stops and it was a great ride.
Why wouldn't a Jeep aimed at people like us, especially my wife who demands some comfort, ride nicely?

I've still got my overland shocks from my 20, they only had about 2k miles when I took them off and switched to the Rubi Fox shocks. They're so easy to swap I should throw them on the JTR for giggles. The red shocks are kinda harsh in my opinion.

Of course I'm in the rare crowd that thought the Rubicon Foxs' where pretty darn good, my preferences are either off....or I just got a rare good set? They were a little floaty, but that allowed them to really absorb the harsh stuff, and I don't remember them having the crazy rebound most talk about, maybe I just got real lucky with my take-offs.

Given that I've experienced all three, I would still expect the Fox 2.5s (Mojave) to perform better then all three of them.

Could it be that the Rubicon shocks are intended for a vehicle where the thing must flex and articulate and not slow down the drop of a wheel when the other goes up, to allow all wheels to flex and touch the ground and not wait for shocks to let 'em move?
I think back to drag racing front shocks - 90/10s. You want the shocks to allow the body to come up quickly, but settle back down slowly.
Rubicon is a "purpose aimed" Jeep - front sway bar disconnect and so on - maybe the shocks were intended to fit that purpose?
Just tossing random incoherent thoughts out there with no real expertise or experience guiding any of it.

That's how I took the experience. Like a trophy truck, you can see em sway easily, but they really absorb the harsh stuff.

These Reds on my 23 are way too harsh for what the Rubicon is meant to do in my opinion. Wish I had pulled those Foxs' (Foxes? I dunno) and put the overland shocks back on it before I traded them in.

But I also think Glock triggers are perfect..most disagree with me. It's clearly a 2 stage trigger, people pay good money to have that added to an AR15 but it comes stock on a glock and most people hate it.

For anyone wanting to put Mojave shocks in your Sport or Rubicon.. Fox sells the Top Front Bushing for the shocks (about $8 each if I remember correctly) Part Number 014-11-044. For the bottom of the front shock open the hole up to 14mm on the axle mount.
These bushings are a PIA to press in. If anyone gets them in without chewing them up let me know .. I had a hell of a time getting them in. I put my Mojave shocks in my wife's JLU.

Other people have noted those are impossible to press out/in. The sleeves are easier and can revert to stock later :whew:

I have done it, just a pain in the ass... Here is a picture of the Mojave shock with the new bushing in my wife's JLU. People can use make shift sleeves if they like, but I prefer to use the correct bushing.

The hydraulic bump stops do not raise the jeep at all. They will however decrease the amount of uptravel until the bumpstops hit. I'm not familiar with the Fox ones so I'm not sure by how much (something to check), just like if you did the cheaper Teraflex foam/spring ones.

I used similar to these 12x14x20mm sleeves over the bolts so I didn't have to drill anything.

Thank you so much for posting this link! I hated the idea of making my own sheet metal sleeves while in the middle of this suspension swap. These will make the swap so much faster and easier!
