My JT has 130 miles on it and seems to have a weird squeak that I only hear while doing a sharp turn, like backing out of a parking spot, at low speed. It sort of sounds like a bushing rubbing on metal. Its very minimal and I suppose it could be just new parts wearing in, either steering or shocks I suppose. As soon as I lessen the turn the squeak goes away. It almost sound like rubber sole shoes walking on very smooth wet cement. Ideas? Let it go and see if it goes away as the suspension and steering get a some miles on it?

Are you sure its just not one of the tires having a slight flat/dead spot making the sound? It is always in one area?

I also had a weird squeak problem. Small squeaks when cold and moving out of the driveway. It turned out to be a broken disc brake spring on the inside disc brake pad of the rear drivers wheel. However, this happened around 10K miles, it was not making that noise when brand new. So, I am thinking something hit it and broke it. The part was a $15 part that I just replaced myself. Here is a pic. Take a look with a flashlight. It is easy to see if it is broken. If the circular part is broken, the spring is not working. There is two on each disc brake pad (top and bottom).

Ok thanks, I’ll pull the wheel this weekend and check it out. What is the part called that needed to be replaced in case I need to get one? Is it just the spring or the entire part you’re holding in the photo?

I have the same issue...it seems to be a squeak on the front passenger Side suspension. Happens when making turns mainly left hand turns and when going over bumps. Haven’t had it looked at yet. Anyone come up with a diagnosis?

If you have the stock wheels or wheels that you can see through, you do not have to pull the wheel. Just get a flashlight and look for those "loops" at the top and bottom of each pad, inside and outside of the caliper. You will have to get on your back to see the inside springs on the inside part of the caliper.

The part is called a "disc brake spring" and there is one unit for the bottom of both pads on the wheel and one unit for the top of both pads on the top of the wheel. Each part is $15.

Every Jeep/solid front axle I've driven, especially on hot pavement squeals the tires on tight turns.

I get steering pump whine on tight turns when going very slowly. But that is a whine not a squeak.
To me these electric pumps sound different than any conventional hyd pump. Less of a whine and more like a squeegee being pulled across a window

The OPs description of the shoe made me think that's what he was hearing.

Does it do it on all surfaces? IE gravel, concrete, asphalt...

I spent some time yesterday trying to identify the source. Still not sure but either fuel pump or steering pump may be the answer. It makes the sound regardless of road material but i did figure out it only does it while the jeep is cold, meaning not having been running and up to full operating temp. I typically only hear the squeegee sound when pulling out of a parking space, which means I just started it up. Makes sense. As I drove around yesterday to find different road materials, I wasnt able to make the sound occur even in exact places it had occurred earlier in the day.
