Not a new item but curious if anyone is using one of the magnet mic holders in combination with a CB or GMRS that has the readout and menu selection in the mic itself.

Curious if the heavy magnet will cause electrical problems in the mic

I'm curious about this as well. I keep trying to get in touch with jeepuniq but they seem adamant to not take my money.

While I can't speak specifically to CB or GMRS, we use Mag mounts for several of our Motorola mobile units at my FD that have on-mic displays with no issue.

Yeah I would also be curious about the screen. since my mount location would be kinda close to it.

I use one with my ID-5100 mic. It doesn’t have a display on it but I’m commenting to say it’s a little…. Awkward? With a light mic. Having a heavier mic definitely helps balance it out. I’m sure it would help make it “feel” better when attaching and removing the mic from the mount.

I should try it with one of the heavier kenwood commercial mics I have. I think the midland mic would be heavy enough to feel good

I would be confident that it would not be an issue. For my iPhone mount, I use a ball type attachment that has 3 big neodymium magnets in it and have no issues with the iPhone for the two years I’ve been running it so far. The iPhone is way more complex and sensitive to things than my Cobra 75 hand unit is going to be.

Personally, I bought one of the CMM Offroad Ball/Bolt things that goes on the grab bar and prefer that option. You can see both in this picture :

your mic on the grab bar is exactly what I am doing. Only I am making a bracket to hold two mic’s in that location. CB and GMRS side by side. which means I need to either use the standard holder they come with or the mag mic of which I so happen to have two.

a downside thst i see is the mag mic adds a good amount of weight

The only thing I don’t like about my mag holder for the phone is that sometimes it feels like I’m wrestling the phone from the magnet. IMHO, I’d rather use the standard holders because they positively hold the mic and won’t be an issue of too strong or too light of a magnet pull to keep the mic in place or allow mic release.

I use magnetic mics branded units on both my APX O3 Control head and my Uniden CMX CB with no issues.
