Got the Next Venture Motorsport skid plates on my JTRD, and ended up grinding the whole passenger side along the edge under the frame rail. You can see the edge of the aluminum plate is now beveled. That’s no big deal, but the stock bolts that stick out of the plate are getting really beat up. The stock crossmembers formed kind of a cage around some of these bolts, protecting them somewhat (if you’re like me, that crossmember gets pretty mangled and flattened too)
I recently installed some Metalcloak gear with these nicely beveled flush mount flat-head cap screws adapters, looks like they come with their skid plate system too. I’m going to email them to ask if they can sell those separate:
Anyone have pointers to any other nice systems to protect these bolts? Currently I should still be able to remove the mangled stock bolts, but I want to get this sorted out before this turns into a cut and bolt-extractor situation
