Maybe it's just me, but this should have been the Wagoneer...

Personally, after seeing them in person, I like the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Not in my price range, though. Looking forward to seeing the LWB.

If I had money, an '88 Grand Wagoneer and a '72 Chevy Super Cheyenne long bed two tone would grace my garage.
('Scuse me; I'ma need a personal moment . . . )

I also like the styling of the new Grand Cherokee L. Still undecided on the interior of it, haven't sat in one.

And if Dodge would put a decent interior in the Durango SRT, I'd buy one. 100% black interior with velour seats, or red leather?? blech . . . (ok, this last isn't relevant, sorry . . . ) :)

I think the Wagoneer got screwed in the re-direction of the product.
Originally Wagoneer was going to be what the Grand Cherokee L is now. Then 6 years ago it was announced Wagoneer in that form was being cancelled and moved to Ram's body on frame construction. This decision seems to have left Grand Cherokee L with more historic Wagoneer styling cues than the actual Wagoneer. And this was FCA, where any US based product development moved at a snail's pace so I'm sure there was no way to fix this styling issue even in 6 years.

I agree.

The new Grand Wagoneer is huge. Suburban sized. This is MUCH MUCH larger than the original Grand Wagoneer, which is Grand Cherokee sized.

Length:
1988 Grand Wagoneer - 186 inches (with a 108 inch wheelbase)
2022 Grand Cherokee L - 193 inches
2022 Grand Wagoneer - 214 inches!!!!!!!!! (with a 123 inch wheelbase)

As an aside, the Gladiator measures 218 inches with a 137 inch wheelbase

So yes, the Gladiator is 32 inches longer than the original Grand Wagoneer
and its wheelbase is 29 inches longer.
