2020 JTR winch and smartcab. 45,000 miles
Mopar lift with drop drop brackets, teraflex lower control arms, adjustable track bar and 3/4 inch leveling spacer. Helwig antisway bar
I also currently own a 2019 JLU and 2021 JLUR
I live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains outside of Yosemite. My commute is from 3000ft to over 5000ft on windy mountain roads.
Done setting the stage.
I am experiencing excessive body roll from the JT on these mountains roads. After driving the JLUR and getting in the JTR it is almost scary to drive until I get used to it. It almost feels under shocked. I even get wheel hop under certain conditions. I'm considering stiffer shocks however I don't want to invest in shocks if it needs shocks and springs.

I'm sure this is just under my conditions and with heavy accessories on mountain roads.
Anyone else??? Thoughts?

At 45k miles the shocks coild be nearing end of life?

I didn’t have any issues on twisty roads in CO last summer and zero issues on our farm roads here in TX that get very twisty.

Service interval is right at 50k I believe. Get them serviced and valved up a little for your weight. Springs might need to be upgraded, but the shocks are at the point of needing to be rebuilt

The truck has 45k on it the lift kit and shocks is closer to 30k however I am leaning towards a shock issue.

I find the Fox shocks are soft. With no adjustment to them you are stuck with the soft setting.
Either a firmer shock, or one you can dial in for conditions would be better suited.

Once you find your ideal settings for different conditions, set up a logbook so you can go straight to the setting you want for the conditions you're driving in.

My guess is the fox shocks for the mopar lift are even softer.

Has anyone seen a chart on after market shock firmness? I've seen a bunch of antidotal comments comparing aftermarket shocks but nothing definitive.

Where is a good place to get them serviced? I have the dsc version but I think they are getting sloppy.

Looking on line I saw $135 per shock. That is almost as much as new.

I am running the mopar lift with aftermarket track bars and drag link. The shocks that came with it were OK on road, but really did not hold up well off road medium speed stuff, Midwest forest trails. I know it did not help I use my truck lime a truck towing and hauling too. I switched out to the 2.5dscs and have been pretty happy. I went on a small trail last week and the rear felt way under damped all the sudden. I have Bout 4 clicks for more damping, but it shouldn't have changed on its own. 135 is steep but the 2.5s were not exactly the budget model either so hate to trash them.

All that said the mopar springs and bits do a good enough job. If your hanging wheels and scaling ledges, it probably is not the best.

Does anyone know if the fox shocks that come with the Mopar lift are rebuildable?
I didn't see it in any of the Mopar lift descriptions

Silly question.
Is it possible to disconnect your sway bars, and forget to reconnect them?

I don’t have a rubicon.

But if they were disconnected, you would obviously be experiencing extreme body roll.
Just my absent minded thought...
?

Good question.... the rubicon is set up if you shift out of low or go over 10 or 15 mph the sway bar reconnects automatically.
I will say that I did look at the sway bar disconnect however to make sure it was working correctly.

Gotcha.
I only asked because shocks don’t typically all go bad at the same time. And the sway bar is the only other thing I can think of that would cause excessive body roll.
Unless you maybe added a heavy truck cap or camper.

Or...
If you aired down your tires and didn’t return them to normal pressure that could do it. ?ā€ā™‚

Yes....it has the smart cap and a winch on the front. That is why I'm leaning towards either rebuilding and revalving the shocks or replacing these with a heavier valved shock ie Bilstein or adjustable.
The current shocks just don't seems to be up to the job with the current build and my driving conditions.

If you are using the Fox shocks that come in the MOPAR lift, I don't believe those fall into the rebuildable category.

Somewhere on this Board in all the attention deficit disorder of threads, someone has contacted Fox and the specific JEEP spec Fox shocks are deemed as throw aways.
