I’m looking at a way to mount my hilift Jack to my Jeep and like it mounted near the front passenger door. My idea is to have the Jack rest on the step bar in front of the passenger door. I held the Jack here and it doesn’t interfere with the door in any way. The lift has a hole in the bottom and my idea is to weld a small stud/dowel to my step bars that will fit in that hood and Jeep the Jack base from sliding around.

I have 2 questions on securing the “top” part of the Jack. There are body bolts holding what I guess is called the cowl or side panel near the antenna. If I were to get the right size bolt and appropriate spacer and bolt it through the Jack, would this be strong enough to secure the Jack?

second question is around the spacer. Would it be wise to use some type of rubber bushing to ensure vibrations don’t do any damage to the body, or would I be good to just use a solid spacer and correct size washers?

Just to add, my step bars mount to the pinch weld/body, not the frame, so movement should be minimal

To be secure, you need two mount points. Just using one by the cowl and "resting" the jack on the step bars with only a guide dowel isn't going to be very secure. It will still be able to move, pivot, twist, and work its way loose.

Thanks, I could always replace the down on the step with a threaded rod/bolt and secure the foot there.

Check out BOLT locks. Not sure if they make one for the Gladiator. But I'm sure it could be modified to work.

I really like this idea - I found this on Quadratec, looks like a ready to go kit to mount in this location on the JL / JT - Unfortunately it looks like its for the drivers side only though.

I currently have mine mounted to my Roll Bar, but im entertaining this idea. Personally, Id REALLY like to mount it behind the drivers side rear door, before the bed, theres a lot of unused space there. Need to do some thinking and looking around when I have time - I could see myself drilling a few holes through the side of the freedom top rear section and mounting a bracket there, sealing it with RTV to avoid water leaks.. Oh man here we go..

Edit: Tyger steps for the win! I have those as well. Ive added skateboard grip tape to mine though.

Actually... I found this on Amazon, generic Hi-Lift bracket designed for the JL Tailgate.

I could see myself fabbing something up (Or drilling and tapping the Tyger steps) and bolting this to side step to utilize that triangle of open space at the rear corner of the JT Cab behind the passenger door, then bolting a bracket of some sort to the hardtop.

I saw that mount too, it looks good but not $150 good. Like you said it's also only on the drive side, which is weird. I do like how they incorporate the pinch weld bolts, but with the steps I don't know if it would be worth it, or even work with my steps.

I also hate that big space on the back of the cab. Might be ablet o bend a bracket coming from the inside under the hard top to there, but I just don't see that being successful and not creating issues down the road.

MIght just grab some bolts and mount it to the bed cargo system until I come up with a better plan. The hood mount is easy but I feel like a lot of people do that, I like like the look of it being on the side somewhere. The hood mounts seem to be the quick/easy solution though.
