Hi all. I am mounting my new Carnivore running boards (purchased from Quadratec) and ran into a weird obstacle. Driver's side mounted fine, but on the passenger side, the bracket doesn't fit around a welded "protrusion" of some kind. The protrusion is only on the passenger side, and came from the factory. Vehicle is a 2021 JTR.

Anyone know what this may be for? I suspect it's for mounting additional skid plates but not sure. (Quadratec seems stumped as well...). It's factory, so there must be some reason for its existence. And is there any practical way around this? (Practical as in "purchase a different part," not "fabricate a new mount a la The A-Team...). :)

Thanks in advance.

I think it has something to do with manufacturing or shipping. From all that I have read, it is fine to cut off. In fact the instructions that came with my LOD rock rails said to do do. I used an angle grinder with a metal cut off wheel. Make sure you paint the bare metal afterwards.

Not all of them had that bracket. My 2021 JTR didn't have it and I just installed a set of Rock Slide Engineering steps on mine last weekend.

I have one on my 2020 JTR as well. My JTR came with the Rubi Rails already installed. Thought it was going derail my attempts install my cheap Westin steps, but managed to make it work. Good to know I can cut it off.

I mounted mine a few months ago without a problem. I suggest:

1. Call MOPAR to see what you can learn about this bracket. They sell a ton of running boards for these vehicles. Just to find out what this could be and whether their boards accommodate such a protrusion. MOPAR also has videos showing how to install their models.

2. I would check out the tons of YouTube videos related to installing the boards. Quadratec does a ton of them too.

Sure you resolved by now, but just installing today. I have that same protrusion, but if I start the bracket toward the rear of the vehicle side of the protrusion and work it towards the front it works it's way into place.

I'm having issues with the rear of the psgr board sitting about 3/4in. Lower than the front. I've rechecked all brackets and all are correct. A bracket must be mislabeled or something.

I just ran into this yesterday installing the Carnivore running boards on my '25 Rubicon. Rather than grind the whole bracket off, I just sliced a notch in it to allow the running board bracket to slide in.
