I started my quest like everyone else researching LED bulbs for the crappy stock incandescence bulbs from Thomas Edison's reject bin. I scoured for days looking at different articles and finding what seem to be an overall consensus that certain LEDs light pattern worked better and I agreed they did, BUT I don't hear a lot about the emphasis on the heat buildup within the waterproof lamp housing.
My area of concern is, long-term durability will be questionable with the amount of heat these LEDs produce.
It would definitely serve the light bulb better to run the units without the water proofing lid but I don't agree with that because I plan on using my Jeep at some point to go through some water and potentially mud that will for sure find its way into the light housing.
For this reason alone I am second guessing my choice. I hope it doesn't bother me to the point where I will worry about my headlights burning out because of the heat they produce on nightly basis. For now the money is spent so I will wait and see.

On another note, the LED replacement bulbs for running lights and fog lights are free air flowing. That aspect of the truck lighting I am pleased with.

The stock incandescent tail lights are too basic for a 2022 vehicle. Looks like a couple of Nike shoe boxes hanging off the corners of my Rubicon. Those are a must to change, not sure what Jeep was thinking there but I'm spending more money because of it.

“Meets DOT lighting requirements“ is what Jeep was thinking….

I believe it was also that shape to house the blind spot safety sensors that live in the light housing (depending if you have that package) in a specific way/location.

Could've also gone with a more asthetically pleasing truck? I kno, then it's not a jeep... when it comes to accessory type lights, simple led bulb replacement will generally yield excellent results. But main lights like headlight/taillight, I've learned replacing the housing/assembly all together is better, and will yield far better results than bulb swap. Good headlights can be had for $300-$500 (got mine for $425 on Amazon). There are a couple of descent looking taillights out there, but from the sound of it, I'd say oracle's is ur best choice, tho there seems to be mixed reviews on quality...

The Blind Spot Monitors are encorporated in all sorts of ways in other makes and models with LED lighting. The incandescent bulbs meet DOT standards and are cheap. The housing is similarly shaped for aesthetics.

Don't get me wrong, out of a sea of vehicles that cost 60+k, this truck checks 97% of my boxes. Meeting minimum requirements is not something they should strive for.

On the other hand, why spend money on standard equipment when the owner base will break and replace with aftermarket upgrades. Granted, some just gas and go having never touched the transfer case lever…

For headlights, you will be hard-pressed to find decent quality (read reputable manufacturer) High/Lo bulbs, as the idea of a dual-function LED is not viable due to heat/cooling requirements or technically legal for many companies even with "offroad only" specified. You're on the money with the heat generated, but with a decent bulb (low beam only), they should incorporate their own cooling solution; Diode Dynamics comes to mind for an excellent cooling unit (SL1).

Ive had the headlight revolution sv4 bulbs in for nearly 3 years and absolutely no issues with burn out, beam pattern, water in the housing, ect. ect.

Im a believer in the kiss method and the less expensive plug ins made sense and i haven’t been disappointed once.

op, it seems to me your over thinking it my friend.

as far as the tail lights. Too each their own. Thats akin to worrying about what my pockets look like. I did throw an led light bulb into the reverse lights and it made such an improvement I haven’t needed to do anything else to the reverse lights.

Good to know! Thanks for the assurance on the Headlights. I'll probably go with Oracle flush mounts tails just for aesthetics.

For the headlights, first try the cheap bet of Sylvania silver star ultra bulbs

My Setup

Beamtech Headlight LEDs
Lasfit Fog Light LEDs

I ran this setup on two JLUs and one JT.
I actually bought them temporarily while I scoured for getting OEM mopar LED headlights. I changed my mind and just kept the setup. They are extremely bright and well lit. My friend actually is ordering some for his F250 Powerstroke after he saw mine.

Heat is the kiss of death for any led's
aftermarket is just that, they don't make any money if they last too long..
My xenon/halogen under cab puck lights lasted 8 years (they had hair vents around the the bezel), the led's have been swapped out 3 times in a 4 year period.. they do not have air vents nor require them.

After a 3 weeks with the hikari LEDs, they have been intermittingly turning on when needed. They do finally stay on After I turn the lights on and off. I found some enclosed LED lights that Will be exchanging them for on Amazon.
