My dealership offered me an alternative to my Diesel JT, and it is very tempting

Considering it because we don't know if our JTDs will ever get built.
Your JTD will never get built and your dealer knows that. The ongoing recall with the diesel od which not one diesel has been fixed is the issue. There are no parts to fix the issue and there is no date as to when parts will be available. As for towing, I have a JTRD and it tows well on flat ground but like most underpowered gas JTs it struggles on hills and mountains. Mine struggles with 3500lbs. Don't buy a JT of any model or engine if you are buying it to tow. Do yourself a favor and buy a real truck with a real engine like a full sized Ram, Ford or GM truck.

You're golden then, the hardest part is adding an inverter but already having one you can buy a factory harness and run it or do like SP did above and go a custom route.
The small wattage inverter in the back is basically worthless. Not worth the money. They should do like Ford did and put one in that can power a house.

I wonder how many batteries and how big an alternator that takes. To do what they show on TV (and in reality, it can't power a WHOLE house - they just make it look that way with the lights) it would have to be massive. Even my neighbor's "whole house generator" "almost" does it, and it would sink the back of that Ford.

I bought mine to tow - 5,000 pounds, no trouble. Granted, I haven't towed in real mountains, but it's hilly enough here that the big rigs struggle and blow black coal and downshift and drop speed back, unable to keep the speed limits.
I have a feeling, based on my towing experience with both of mine, it would pull 3500 pounds like it wasn't there. Sure it's going to rev up, but any modern gas engine would. My LS equipped Chevy had to wind up even tighter than my 3.6 does to take the same exact hills pulling the same car behind it.

No worries here. It's kind of flat here in North Texas.

My dealership knows (because I visit them each week) how late (15 weeks and counting) that my JTD order hasn't been even started yet (accepted March 31).

Was talking to them last night, and they offered me this at what I think is a really good price (MUCH lower than what is stated on their website):

https://www.shottenkirkcdjrgranbury...high-altitude-4x4-crew-cab-1c6hjtfg7pl553301/

Anyway, I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about taking their offer, but, I have a few reservations.
1) Not a diesel, has the tow package, but not sure how High Altitudes are for towing.
2) Doesn't have the Trail Management system with 115v 400w outlet in the bed or lockable storage under the seat.
3) Doesn't have the Auxillary switches like I ordered on my JTD.
4) Has Rock rails which I'll have to replace (I'm vertically challenged).

I can add most of the stuff (not sure about the Aux switches), but my main concern is how well the High Altitude tows.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I love my switches, I love my JTDR. The diesel is amazing depending on what you want it to do.
If you are towing in the mountains the diesel takes a big hit because of the turbo. I love my diesel when I tow and everyday.

Can someone point to me exactly where they are finding these $47k new High Altitudes? I'm pretty good at negotiating prices, and I haven't found a dealer that has been willing to come down that low. I'm considering buying a used one at the price point where some are saying new models are being sold. Does someone have a lead/listing they could send me?(preferably in the midwest)
I saw Tate Jeep in MD offering 8k discounts on Gladiators, but only 4 on Wranglers. I understand the JT market is soft probably why and they have excess inventory.

Shottenkirk CDJR in Prosper has a Granite Crystal Rubicon for $11,900 off MSRP (dealer discount and MFR rebate). Go see Geoff Cannon.

I’d be happy with 2-2.5kw. Should be enough to run the fridge and a light or tv.

The problem with inverters is every time you change voltages you loose between 10 and 15% efficiency.
If you are going to run a 12 volt fridge or lights then keep everything 12 volt. You’ll be happier in the long run.
