Glad to hear that!! What Ins. Co are you with? We just had a totaled classic truck with Liberty Mutual, and the experience was horrific. Immediately switched to State Farm. Hoping it will be better.
Are your at least getting depreciation of value too from insurance company ? If it goes too much higher even with it fixed or in progress you can make them total it and start new. Praying it all works out for you ..
Diminishment of value, and yes. One of the 1st things I asked about with it being so new. No idea what that number should be though. This Jeep would be difficult to replace, so I'm hoping it does NOT get totaled. Ordered it new and can no longer get the diesel in the Texas Trail. Overland would be my next option from a price perspective, but fingers are crossed.
Considering a off-duty officer witnessed the whole thing and stopped, I don't think punching anyone would have helped my case! Besides, it was an 18 year old kid who had his license a whole two weeks who slammed into me. But it wasn't his fault. Was an elderly couple who hit him. Time for them to stop driving? Maybe. I never even spoke to them. Was just happy no one was seriously injured.
I think most insurance companies cap it at 10 % of retail Value on a newer vehicle . I also think there are some state laws that apply as well ? Of course mileage and kind of damage is also a factor.
Be thankful that you weren't hit by an illegal with no insurance like the asshat that hit me and totaled my JKUR. Being in Texas, I hope you have unisured motorist coverage because the % of uninsured drivers in this state is stupid high.
