2021 Mojave, both batteries OEM and I want to proactively replace the main battery & bypass the aux. What is the proper sequence to minimize possible issues. Pull the aux negative, insulate/tape the contact & pull fuse 42 and then change main battery or vice versa? Does the black cube (IBS)on the main negative need to be detached/isolated & if so how long? The replacement battery will be a 94R Super Start Platinum AGM.
My wife & I are in our 80's & frequent the forest service trails around Durango & don't want a trail failure. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Charge the new battery.
While it is charging, remove the negative cable that goes to the auxiliary battery.
Disconnect the IBS completely and set it aside while doing all of that.
It only takes a few minutes to reset the IBS.

Last thing - put in the fully charged new battery and put the IBS back on, connect everything except the ground cable to the aux, pull F42.
That should do it.

You don't want to put in a new, fully charged battery with the aux still probably low and older, cold blow the high current fuse array.

in other words, do the aux bypass first - then think about replacing the main battery.

I think you'll be fine.

Very much appreciated and many thanks. Final question, the IBS has a wire connected on the firewall end, is this disconnected also from the IBS & if so, how is this accomplished? Twist & pull or is there a clip?

The IBS network connection is two wires - there's a clip you press and it simply unplugs - pulls apart.

Great location! I grew up in Cortez and miss it. Thanks for asking about the Aux Battery delete. I have both original Mopar batteries and want to do a delete. This is the simplest and very well documented delete. My thanks to you and Bill.
