I have a Willys JT. Everything jeep/off-road is new to me. What is the difficulty level of installing say rubicon “take-off” suspension or Mopar 2 inch lift? Jack, Jack stands, tools are no issue but for a first time install could I find myself in over my head. I’m pretty handy with tools but no auto experience. Also, after this type of work I assume that I would need to bring the JT in for alignment? Would it void any warranties? Would I need to be concerned with gearing(3.73 on the JT)?

I had never done it and was able to install a rubicon takeoff suspension on mine in under 2hrs. Jack stands and floor jacks are your friend. Plenty of youtube videos to guide you along the way.

As far as gearing goes that comes down to what size tires your going to run. Anything over 33's with 3:73 gears and your going to take a significant hit in mpgs. 35's are going to put you around 16mpgs average. You can get mpgs back with a regear but gears have nothing to do with lifting it. As far as warranty goes, no it will not void your warranty.

I have the same question. From what I understand if the dealer does it, warranty is fine, otherwise the new parts and anything downhill forfeits coverage though may have their own separate warranty.

I am use to doing my own work but such a different world then my 3 series crap.

Lol I'm even wondering about the level kits... total jeep newb. I'm still getting my head over the fact most people see the bumper as a waste part from the factory.

If you are looking for lift don't go with the Rubicon take offs. The Mopar lift is good but (on non Rubicon Gladiators) you will end up with the rear end appearing to be 3 taller than the front. Jeep recognizes the Mopar lift as no problem and will not impact the warranty. They do say the kit is to be installed by a professional automotive shop. Doing it yourself is great to learn about wrenching and your vehicle. However, as you may get to a point where you need a tool or help you may be stuck without your Jeep for a day or two while you figure out what you need. Happy Jeeping!

It’s very easy. Truly nuts and bolts.

If you’ve ever put together a lego set, you can do this. Lego set being harder

So basically a person, time and a torque wrench? Single person job?

Ayup. That’s about all there is to it.

Did my mopar lift in my drive way, solo. If you’ve never done one, budget two full days. If you’ve done one before budget 6~8hrs of laying on your back in the driveway.

I'll say depending on how much lift your looking for would depend on if you should get rubicon takeoffs. On a stock sport or overland with no steel bumper or winch your going to get 1" of lift. It gave me 3/4" because I had the steel bumper and winch on the front. Didn't use the rear springs because of mine being a Max Tow. I've had warranty work done since o installed my lift. I had the Steering Box TSB done in January they didn't question anything.

I’m really interested to see what amount of lift someone gets installing rubi diesel take-offs onto their non-rubi. Should give a bit more lift.

PS mine is for sale. ;);)
