Hello,

I am new to the Jeep world. I just purchased my first Jeep. A Jeep Gladiator Texas Trail edition. I would like to add a lift as well as new tires and wheels. I am currently looking at Superlift's 4" lift kit with Fox Shocks. I would like to add 35 inch tires and wheels.

1) Is this a good lift? Quality wise

2) How much height will this add to the truck. I need to know to see if it will still fit in the garage

3) What tires/wheels would you recommend with this kit

4) Would you do the shock extension or pay for the upgraded fox shocks.

Thanks

Think I'd go to the local bar order a beer and think on this for a while. Speaking from experience with thousands of dollars in mods spent on my Jeep. Also, follow this forum and learn from others and what they have done. I'm guessing the Texas Trail comes with 3:73 axle ratio and with this in mind you won't want tires larger than 33 inch. If you go larger than 33's you will need to change the gearing. I went with the Mopar lift and have 33 in tires now. I am considering regearing and then getting larger tires. People will tell you that you can go to larger tires without regearing but in reality if you want a good driving Jeep lower gears are needed. Have fun with your Jeep and enjoy the beer.

1) It's an ok budget lift. Definitely not a complete lift and if you are planning on a lot of off-roading, you may want to look into other options that include upper and lower control arms for front and rear. This is a lot of height for just the control arms they supply, IMHO.

2) Depends on the tire size. If you go with 35s, it should still fit but with 37s, probably not.

3) I would go with 37s for this lift as I think 35s are going to look small with 4" of lift. As the poster above said, you're gonna want to re-gear. Not that you have to, but you'll hate driving it if you don't.

4) Depends on what you plan on doing with your Gladiator. Show vehicle and no off-roading - shock extensions are probably ok and will get you by. Anything other than that, you'll want the actual shocks. It will be a much better ride with these shocks.

For reference, I have a Texas Trail. It has a 2.5" Clayton lift, Fox shocks, 37" tires and 5.13 gears. And yes, it fits in the garage and feels a lot taller than 2.5"

if you are around Dallas…there are a couple top notch off road shops that can help guide you. I suspect you will need to regear moving to 35’s and I’d look at a more complete kit. I’m a fan of metal cloak ( I run a 2.5 lift on my JL) or Rock Krawler. Both are top tier kits.

Looks like he’s in Galveston County....

I also went with the Clayton 2.5 and Fox shocks but am going with 35” tires on my Texas Trail. I have the diesel, so no worries on changing gears.
Looking to install this weekend.

Thanks for all the replies. I am checking out Clayton lift kits now. How much is it to regear the Jeep. My brother is a mechanic, can he do it at home? Thanks

No, I wanted to but just didn't have the money at the time.

Thanks. Wheels are Hardrock H105. Tires are Ridge Grapplers.
