Loving my new Nighthawk....my first new vehicle since 2004....but I'm having issues!

My power mirrors are inop, as is my driverside lock/unlock button.

I made an appt for service and they wanted me to leave it with them for a week!

Am I entitled to a loaner vehicle through Jeep Wave? Looks like
they will pay for one day rental up to 40.00.

I bought an extended warranty....can't locate any info in my paperwork...any tips?

Thanks!

Have you checked the door wiring harness that you would disconnect to remove the doors? It sounds like that is an isolated issue.

I did check the wiring harness where it plugs in at the passenger footwell, but not the other end inside the door. I agree it seems local to the door. The locks on the passenger side work fine.
I sort of feel like my dealer should be chomping at the bit to handle it for me, but that probably isn't realistic lol.

Jeep Wave only covers a single same day service visit for rental and not multiple day. FCA does not have a defined loaner policy and leaves that up to a dealers discretion with most not providing a loaner. You are not entitled to a loaner.

Your extended warranty has no play or variable here as it is just that, an extended warranty once the factory warranty limits have been met and you are not there with such a new vehicle.

Unfortunately the leave it for a week or booking an appointment multiple weeks out is the new norm in many dealerships nowadays.

I don’t want to sound flippant here, but I would talk to the dealer about using the truck up to a time the dealer could get it in, instead of sitting in the lot waiting. Then just manually adjust the mirrors if you can gently do so, plus use the door lock manual switch to lock your doors and key to leave it secure. Than you won’t need to rent till you drop it off the day their ready early in the morning with a rental waiting.

A week WTF!!!
No doubt. I had an appointment Fri. a.m. and skipped an overtime shift to take the jeep in. Being an old curmudgeon. I envisioned them pulling the truck in at the appointed time, having a look, and possibly repairing it immediately. I'm guessing it's a bad wiring loom maybe.

Nope. Was greeted by a nice gentleman who politely asked if I could leave it for the week and that they would likely start on it Mon.

I couldn't leave it this week so I'm going to try again later.

Oh I've got a plethora of old Raggedy chevrolets to drive. Everything works fine on my 98 Silverado lol. Don't want to mess with the mirrors manually...i can use them as is i just have to crane my old neck around a bit. The locks work with the fob, just not the door control buttons. It's no big deal. I love the truck it is smoooooooth and comfy. Just don't want to get out of it for a week! Just got it!

That is the new norm. Many dealerships no longer due to either manning shortages and/or putting paid customer work to the head of the line, are able to schedule, troubleshoot and repair within a fixed appointment time. The leave it for the week thing is for them to work it at their discretion and time when that becomes advantageous to the dealership.

Also, if they have to order parts, that is going to be a two trip visit minimum.

We had the same type of problem with ours, went to the dealership and was told when my wife reconnected the harness some of the prongs weren't connected. Not sure if that's the same solution as yours.

That's normal now. Dealer bays are 100% full all of the time due to all of the people needing service for various reasons. Blame it on the fact that the world has too many people and not enough services to support the masses.

Gone are the days that you can pull up to a dealer shop and get someone to diagnose and repair something within the same day......that went away long ago..........maybe save for out in the boonies at an independent shop where the pace is slower and there are far fewer people per square mile. If you get pushed to the top, it forces someone else's repair to be put on hold and then they wait longer. And everyone wants to be pushed to the top because their issue is critical to their lives just the same. Simply a fact of life.

We just had our JT in at a dealer shop and when I dropped it off the service manager said very sternly "Don't expect us to even get a look at this for the next week, we are very busy." Felt like a buffer.....and maybe it was....but it was most certainly an entire week before I heard anything concrete back from the guy, and then it took a couple more days to actually perform the service.

Years ago I bit the bullet and dropped off my old Dodge Durango into a local small-town dealer's shop with a baffling trans issue. I spoke to the tech myself multiple times over the 2 weeks that it was with them. He said he had "6 other repairs" going at the same time, so he was bouncing back-and-forth between all of them trying to appease customers that he was at least touching their vehicles and issues. How the hell they are supposed to fix issues with that setup is beyond me.

However, if you are important enough in your area, you MAY get some preference.

It's worth it to have a spare beater vehicle or motorcycle that you can fall back on when the proverbial shit hits the fan, because it will eventually. At minimum, rental coverage on your insurance policy.

Yes I haven't had a new vehicle with a warranty since 2004 lol. I'm straight from the old world of the vehicle being wheeled into the shop bay at the appointed time and inspected and quite likely repaired while you wait.
