Not completely bonkers. Mines goes up to 37 or so and is comfortable but my “normal” load is a little higher than most. It really depends on what you carry with you on a daily basis and what the roads are like where you normally drive that determines if it’s bonkers or not. Mine gets up to 37-38 and with the bedcap and hauling everything I need to possibly change out a tire to include a badlands 3 ton jack and it’s pretty comfortable. If he runs an aux fuel cell, tools, jack and all that on the regular he’d need the extra psi to run comfortably. These threads are always subjective and only give a starting reference point. What I carry with me the next guy doesn’t so our psi reqs are going to be different.12 ply tires at 40 PSI on a mid sized truck is bonkers! Considering 37 psi on stock tires is what's recommended, and those are load C. Empty on street you should be at 30. I run 31-33 on my load D 35"s.
