It was time to change the factory tires, I dang near wore them out. I just had Discount Tire put on Falken Wildpeaks in 285/70/R17 and I really love the look.

Thanks ! And yes, it really does, I was impressed with how wide the new tires were, and it seems much taller too.

Yes, 3.73 gears, that's what kept me from going with 35 inch tires. I'll eventually save up enough to re-gear, then get larger tires, but these are great for now. I took her on the highway after driving off, and I'm still hitting 8th gear at the normal times. I still need to use Waze to see how my speedometer was affected, but it's probably only a mile per hour or two off.

With the 3.73 gearing of a Sport, let us know how it affects the 8th gear trans operation and your mileage. Thanks!

IMO the design of the large JT wheel openings makes any tire under 33" look anemic. Great look by the way. Enjoy! :like:
Thanks, I took the closure panels out shortly after I bought the truck, and cut them down so I could still cover the foglights. It made it look more like the Rubicon, and made the ability to put larger tires on much better. There is zero rubbing with these tires.

Not sure if you were aware of this site https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

A member had shared it in another thread and ill say its helped me very much to determine what size tire, wheel offset, and wheel backspacing I need to get the look I want.

It'll help determine how your speedo was impacted by the tire change.

Tires look good on your truck.
Cheers.

I went to the wildpeaks on mine within a month of buying mine. Got a great deal on some take offs and rims. Changed the whole look of the truck. I did lose a couple of mpg on the gas front going to them. I have to resolve my shock issue before going to my next set of tires and then it will be do I go 35's or stay with the 33's. Not sure my 61 year old butt wants to deal with 35's should I get a flat and I certainly don't want to lose any more gas mpg but I think the truck would look even better on 35's

Thank you, and this was very helpful. I was able to get on the highway again, with Waze going this time, and the nubers I saw jived exactly with the link you provided. I'm getting within 1 MPH at lower speeds, below 50 mph, and above that, it's generally a difference of 2 mph, all the way up to 85 which is as fast as I was able to push it tonight. If I'm going, say, 73 mph according to the speedo, then I'm really going 75 mph.

Would be interested to see how your mileage changes in comparison to the Toyo AT3 35's I just installed. They are about the same weight, so I feel that's a good comparison. Just to let you know I've seen about a 1.5 mpg reduction, but my Willy's rides so much better. Not seeing any noticeable lag on acceleration either. Add another shout out to Discount Tire for their help.

Thus far, the behavior of the new tires is really good, I can't notice a difference in handling, the way she drives, and the noise level is still around what the old tires were, and they were street tires. I'm very impressed with these thus far, and I'll post up mpg numbers when I fill up the tank again and run it for about a week. I don't go by that onboard crap that the display shows, I calculate my real MPG.
