Thanks, Shadow

I'm going to unmarry and triple reboot the taser that's in my gladiator tonight to see if it makes any difference on my JT vs his JL. I hope it does and I hope it's just because whatever is wrong with my son's jeep is something that we can fix.

I made an appointment at the local jeep dealer to say hey my car won't go into 4WD and they're like oh OK great we can see you on February 8 and I'm like what? and I said they said yeah we're a little backed up. BTW, my 2021 Glad has only 3,.800 miles so I doubt something has "worn out". My son's JL has 40,000 miles on it (just outta warranty FTW!). Last week he was cruising in the deep soft sand on the beach in 4WD. This was just prior to the tazer installation on his JL.

One other thing that I forgot to mention was that we also put my son's JL when the tazer was installed on jack stands and the front wheels didn't move. The rear wheels of course did. Then we took the tazer out and did all the reboots while it was still on the jack stands and the front tires didn't engage again...

He's going to CDL and Lineman school in a couple of days, commuting 30 miles each way for 3 months so I'm prioritizing the "fix" for his Jeep lest he gets caught in a snowstorm :-(

Thanks for again for any help or suggestions, Ed

Took 2 1/2 weeks to get mine in for a weird temperature sensor issue and by that time it started working perfectly again - so I said I wanted a record of the problem somewhere, understanding there was little that could be done while it was working and there were no codes at all in the system, stored or otherwise. They were swamped.

Unless the transfer case is broken, that front driveshaft should be spinning at minimum...

Thanks 22 - good idea - when it was in 4WD and the rear tires were spinning at idle, I was able to turn the f(elevated) front wheels with my hands as if they were not engaged at all with the transfer case… Not knowing exactly what that means but probably not good.

UPDATE:

A total aha moment from Joe over at tazer. Sounds totally plausible and I will try it out today and report results! -

Joe here…
I’ve never seen this before, but I think I might know what it is.
Did you happen to change the FrtAxle setting in the off road menu to No?
That would open up the FAD, which locks the driveshaft to the axles.
Here’s the kicker: that’s the one setting that is NOT in the BCM, so when you unmarry it won’t change back.
So marry, check that setting. If it’s off, turn it back on and you should be good to go.
