It was the first day above 70 this year around here today and saw a few classics out. Drove past a 70's era Charger at an intersection and we both gave each other a smiling nod of approval that we were out just for the hell of it in cool vehicles on a beautiful day. Probably my favorite"wave" yet

Chrysler dealers should inform buyers for the wave !!

In Quebec, in winter, usually the wave cool down because people have tuques, windows closed, doors and roofs on Jeeps. As soon as we go topless, usualy the wave come back. Is my first year with a Glad, as I got a JKU for a long time that I give in exchange for the Glad. Let’s see how is going with the Glad in the next years and here a pic for presentation (2021 Sport /with max tox package in sting gray) :

It's Canadia, they'll all apologize later for not waving.

The only Jeeps that I can say are less likely to wave or wave back are the older Jeeps, the ones with a couple of decades of age on them. Maybe it's my imagination but it really does seem to be the case.

We recently inherited an old TJ from my deceased father-in-law who always had an old Jeep to take out on NC mountain trails. I've been cleaning it up and driving it around some for the past week, and have now noticed what seems to be a reluctance of newer Jeeps to wave at me when I'm driving it. Maybe it's my imagination, and maybe it's because they don't expect the older, rougher Jeep to wave back so they don't bother. New Jeep drivers are still more likely to wave to the old TJ, but not as many. The older Jeeps for the most part still don't wave even when I'm in the old TJ.

It's really not a big deal to me either way, but since this thread is still going I thought it was an interesting observation to add.

I'm still new here and this is the first I've hear of "The Jeep Wave" I have a 2005 Liberty CRD that I drive everyday and not once has anyone given me a wave. I guess it only applies to "real" Jeeps like CJs, Wrangles and Gladiators. I can tell you in New Jersey "The Finger" is extremely popular for all makes!
Hey. I'll wave to ya if I see you.
Don't let them cancel this too.

Today wife counted 64 jeeps today.
We were on a 230+ mile round trip into woods & back home.
At lease half waved.

Will make note that wife counted jeeps in parking lots too. I didn't clarify.

Strange, but while in the woods only saw their tracks & dust.

I wave. Why not, relax and enjoy yourself. Problem is I live in the SF bay area where having a Jeep is just a classy Minivan or a "I hike" status symbol. Don't get me wrong, drive whatever you want but here there's no culture behind people driving Jeeps unless they are modded out. In my CJ7 everybody waves, thumbs up or stairs no matter what they are driving that recognize it. In my stock Gladiator nobody waves.
However when I'm out of town in the more country areas everybody Jeep waves that drive a Jeep. It's kinda fun!

I've noticed two things personally that make me miss waving at others. This is only about 30-50% of the time though, I try to wave whenever I can. #1. during winter and mostly night driving it is easy to "forget" to wave during the day because you get into the habit of not waving since its dark outside and cant be seen anyways. #2. Sometimes while I am driving, I am also thinking about 300000000000 other stressful things going on in life/work and I don't realize what other types of vehicles are coming in the opposite direction. I wave when I can, and don't get upset when other don't always wave back, who knows what kind of day they are having.

LOTS of Jeeps by me in Ohio and I would say I'd be lucky to get waves a third of the time. Been seeing more Gladiators around too and no waves.
