@BestopTeam @Cassie

Recently I ordered my Gladiator with only a hardtop as I do not like the OEM soft top folding design that sits on top of the truck.

However I’m thinking about my old CJ-7’s soft top and soft doors - completely removable while away from home and able to be stored in the back of the CJ while driving around...

Has any thought been given to developing...

- NEW SOFT TOP FRAME: telescopic soft top frame tubes...supports mid and rear roof points (these frame tubes would stay attached to JT and collapse/fold down BEHIND rear seat). ...a separate soft top support frame tube supports roof over the driver (this folds back to speaker bar or just disconnects when top off)...use same header panel to connect & latch top on front (also removable but pivots up in front)

- slight variation on the OEM vinyl soft top design (this now removes completely from above new frame)...recycle as much of design as possible

- NEW SOFT DOORS: metal soft door frames...canvas covered door frames matches soft top...upper window in clear vinyl zips off...rotating handle to latch door shut

Idea is that the soft top could be easily removed from this new Gladiator soft top frame (like a CJ-7) and the top skin rolled up and put under the rear seat

Then the 4 soft doors get removed (if one wants) and stacked up against front of truck bed wall and velcro strapped in place.

This way you can take your top and doors around with you and put it back on (or take it off) while away from home.

Ultimate flexibility and versatility for complete open air riding! But security of having a top with you at all times should the weather get bad.

Pile on thoughts and follow-up posts fellow JT owners so Bestop and others might consider making this a reality!

And JL owners too...you know you want soft doors!

I loved the soft doors. Everyone seems stoked about tube doors but they don’t keep you dry. I had 2 soft doors on my YJ and they fit perfectly in the 5 inches of “trunk” behind the rear seat. I am a buyer of soft doors for sure.

To be honest, this guy absolutely nailed Jeep soft top design:

https://www.americanconvoy.com/pictures.html

Hands down that’s the best looking Jeep soft top EVER produced. Yeah it looks like a Land Rover Defender...but who cares as they also have a well designed top.

Additional height, roll-up side and rear windows, bikini incorporated into design, and completely removable too.

@BestopTeam you should buy or license this guy’s designs and adopt to later model Jeeps.

And use the same principles to design a bed topper: taller height, SQUARE rear end (not slanted), semi-fixed support frame (not collapsible).
