I have had my 2020 Gladiator with 10k miles in the shop multiple times. 2 times for the rear main seal and is awaiting another trip to the dealer for the steering box tsb, another rear main seal leak, passenger front axle seal, auto stop start error and red battery alert. I don’t off road or do anything crazy with it. This is my first Jeep and I can say that my experience so far has not been good. I have brought it to my dealer multiple times and it sits for days before they even start on it. When I pay close to $60k for a vehicle I would have hoped for a much better experience.

That looks bad. Have you contacted jeep cares? What is the dealer telling you?

2 times for the rear main seal

It is possible you have an oil cooler/oil filter housing that is leaking, as the leak manifests as a possible rear main leak. We're seeing the 17-19 MY Pents now having that issue, as evidenced by the shortage of the part at the OE and aftermarket level. Sometimes the oil filter cover is overtorqued, which can cause the cooler to leak (or trying to remove it AFTER being overtorqued by the previous tech). Service should be well aware of this condition.

steering box tsb

You may or may not have joy on this one, results vary. I understand the physics behind the complaint. Campaigns seek to resolve issues on a case-by-case basis.

passenger front axle seal

This is a known issue on some units, early IIRC. Service should know.

auto stop start error and red battery alert.

This condition can result from several possibilities, but you might look into a failed auxiliary battery. I'm not a fan of ESS, but i understand it was a means to get the fleet CAFE up a little higher. A TAZER mini might be a good option for you, as it allows you to shut the system off full-time without having to disable it at every drive cycle.

You have the option of escalating your dissatisfaction via the customer resource center (Jeep Cares), with a case being generated at that time.

Unfortunately, and this is acid to the ears of many, like health insurance, warranties are only as good as the people and facilities behind them. The industry is short like 60,000 head now at the journeyman level in auto technology, with no change in sight. Guys like me are slowly departing due to age or disability (it's a young-uns gig), and are in the mentorship lane.

Good luck.

sorry about ur issues. I can only comment on the stop/start as I had a similar issue. Long story short, the dealer replaced my aux/main batteries under warranty.

I haven’t contacted Jeep Cares. I honestly didn’t know what it was until I just googled it. The dealer hasn’t said anything yet because they haven’t gotten around to fixing it. I bought it used with 6K miles on it so maybe I am not covered by Jeep Cares?

And unfortunately probably why someone traded that in with only 6000 miles on it. You have no idea what that rig went through before you bought it.

What was the sale? A cpo with warranty? As-is? Jeep are a bit like high end sports cars. Great new. Perhaps not used if hooned. No way we know. But i would still contact jeep cares. I dont know if they can help on used but gets corp involved.

I hope it works out

This ....ouch. I would do two things right away.

1. Did you purchase from a Dodge Jeep dealer? If so, I would go down and ask to talk to dealer GM. No one less. Ask them to see the vehicle history records Seeking to see what service was already done to vehicle.

2. If a Jeep dealer, send that info to Jeep Cares And see what they can bust loose for you. Not sure what capacity JC has with used.

Have you spent the $35 for a Carfax perchance?

Hopefully this isn’t a “buyer beware” type of situation. If purchased from a Jeep dealer, they had to sell it with some peace of mind. If not a Jeep dealer ....I think you may be hosed.

Good luck.

I'd look into lemon law-ing it.
You are right, that kind of money it shouldn't be that messed up.
If you like the truck aside from all the issues then like i said, try and lemon law it. This may give you a chance to get something else you wanted (different color/engine/add ons).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will keep you posted on the outcome. Certainly not an experience that makes me want to own a Jeep going forward. I love the Gladiator but it is pointless if I can drive it and have reliability.

There's too many threads like this just on this forum alone. Jeep has to take notice and do more than just care...actually do something about it.

I agree. This is crazy. Coincidentally I just got a notice in the mail today from Mopar Vehicle Protection about now being the best time to “extend your coverage” so I can continue “experiencing the versatility and go-anywhere capability” of my Gladiator. How Jeep handles this situation will permanently shape my perception of the brand. I simply want to experience the brand as advertised. Again, I love the looks and features of the vehicle but I am quickly loosing patience with this situation.

Agreed. I reached out to them and got zero help with my ongoing problem. Terrible customer service.

This....is why I tell my wife to NOT EVER buy a used Jeep to be used as a daily driver. A project, yes, absolutely...but you do pretty much roll the dice on getting one that wasn't beaten like a rented mule.
