For those of you running this hitch system (NSA Ready Brute Elite 2), are you running a separate charge line to the battery?

Something like this https://a.co/d/2X1kAJR or this https://a.co/d/8oOs943

I am pretty sure I don’t need it, but…. Just want to confirm what some other gladiator toads are doing. Not to many straight answers on one of the RV forums for gladiators. Or they wanted to talk about their braking systems. I am only interested in if you’re running the NSA Ready Brute Elite 2 type system.

For brake lights I am running: https://www.etrailer.com/p-RM-15267.html
Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit - Item # RM-15267
So I have a open center prong to pull the power if needed.

I appreciate your guidance and thoughts. Thanks

I'm using the Ready Brute Elite on my 2020 Gladiator, with my home-made version of the CoolTech wiring harness - no charge line needed because there is no draw from the JT battery at all. Use the same setup on our 2022 JLU and, again, no problems. This past summer we pulled the JLU from San Jose, Ca to Nashville, Tn and back, leaving the JLU connected to the RV for as much as 6 days straight with no issues.

I also tow my 2021 with the NSA ReadyBrute with surge break along with the CoolTech harness. The harness does have a charge line if you use a electronic breaking system like blue ox, but with the NSA you do not need it as you are not powering anything while towing. I have towed many miles and never had any issues.

To put a nice little bow in this.....
Thanks to the comments and help..... We just got back from a 1904 mile trip towing the gladiator. From the Eastern Shore of MD to Tarpon Springs Fl. We stopped over night coming and going at the KOA in Santee SC (They were very good to deal with).
I did NOT use a charging line and had zero problems. The gladiator towed perfect. By the way the bungee cord "trick" was a big help. I notice the brakes dragged little before I left my house. Not after that!

I did not run the red wire/light brake notification wire. Not sure its really needed.

KOA-When we checked in coming home, we got in around 3:30.... I knew I wanted to be back on the road by 7AM next morning They set me up with a site long enough I didnt have to unhook the gladiator... I partially did so I could level, but they basically gave me 2 sites without extra charge. Again very accommodating. Also extremely easy on and off I-95

I am in the process of setting up my new 2025 Rubicon and I have used Cooltech harnesses in the past so I went to order one for the new Gldiator and questioned them on needing a charger or not when using the Ready Brute Elite towbar. They said starting in 2024, any time the brake pedal is actuated, the Jeep will exit sleep-state and start consuming power. So Cooltech recommends running a charger for the batteries.
