Years ago. We had a cross between a golden and a black lab. The smartest dog i ever had. His name was Bennie. We went on a vacation for a week. Uncle Jim said he would keep an eye on Bennie at the house. We came home, only to find all the rugs in the house piled up in the middle of the living room floor. Each rug had a hole chewed in the middle of it.
Holy Crap that dog has some serious issues with rugs?

We'd adopted our first dog, hand 2 young boys, if the door opened a crack he could be out before you knew it. The Dog Catcher fee was $25 the first time and went up by $25 each time he caught him, we hit $175 - he looked at the electric dog fence as a 'suggestion' he'd just run across it and knew he'd be free. The final straw, and it was his nearly last day on earth, was when my wife and walked around the corner and saw him standing on our dining room table just as he did his duty. Needless to say he found a new home with a fenced yard, we were done.

Bennie was pissed at us for leaving him home. That's the only time he did anything like that.

Your lucky. Our wonderful rescue lab Buddy hated when we went out. He ate about 1/2 of a small throw rug but couldn't pass it. Cost me $2500 emergency surgery and a huge part of his intestines. They said they doubted he would live.

Bastard lived another 4 years and harassed the crap out of us. God rest Buddy's soul. ;)

Damn! At least our Golden Box of Rocks just ate a couple socks, and passed them... eventually.
