My father in law has been treated awesome, eye correction and now hearing correction he is very impressed with his experience. Wish it was the same for all who served and serve.
That’s good to hear. I have been dealing with the VA since 2003 and can say that it’s gotten better.
I know about six years ago they gave me a pair of hearing aids that were $3600 each. And I send in a card every few months and they send me a new box of batteries.
It’s their math that really puzzles me. My total ratings add up to 110% but by VA math it equals 70%. I’ve got a new claim filed that will hopefully get me over that 100% threshold.
Have a friend that used one of the pay services after battling over and over with the VA. Cost him $5000 but his total rating came back at 240%. Again, VA math equals 100% for him, but that’s what it takes to get the good service.

Amen.

It is a damn shame that this is the standard of healthcare we, as a nation, have accepted for our veterans. I am one as well -- and it pisses me the hell off.
This is my argument t when people want "free, government-provided, single-payer healthcare". The government fux up everything they touch. Everything.

This is not in any way political...just my very subjective observation.

yea im at %44 (they round it to %40). They denied a clear cut claim of mine so its pending being seen by a judge...but its been pending or almost two years now. I have the DAV acting as a helper, but they havnt really done anything I cant do on my own. My next step is to engage a lawyer and follow a similar path as your friend. The VA is frustrating to say the least.

Yep, my DAV guy let the VA know that I was initiating a claim, that was it. Absolutely nothing else from him. Hell I could’ve done that on the website myself.
They have made it easier and more streamlined via myhealthevet for us to have things visible, but if you don’t have Dr and lawyer vocabulary then you are at a disadvantage.
Helps to hire someone if you have the means.

Thank you all for your service. It’s a shame you have to go through this crap. We owe you better. I work in local government and it’s about the best form of government we have but I still know government messes everything up. I try my best to help make it better if even a little. I can’t imagine working in the federal government with all the bureaucracy, red tape and waste.

the healthy vet site definitely made it easier. Especially for filing for an increase. Not to get too personal but they hosed me on my PTSD claim, so I have to file for an upgrade. Pretty dang glad I don't need to go and sit down for an hours on end and hand fill out the giant claim packet haha.

I reached out to my federal representatives and congressman to see if they can push it around a bit. If that doesn't work a lawyer is absolutely in my future.
