That's how I survived school-caffeine and nicotine.
Got pulled over after leaving work one night, just after midnight, and the officer asked if I had any drugs or alcohol in the truck. I told him "nope, that doesn't keep you awake like coffee does". After searching my truck, he said 'you are right some empty Mister Donut cups and Lucky Strike packs'.
He asked where I was coming from/headed to so I pointed to my uniform and (again) explained that I had just got out of work and was headed home.
That must have been his shift for a while and from then out he would wave as we passed each other late at night.

I was just starting in that back in 99 then started getting back to back deployments...I am in green, all 83 lbs. of armour, 12 ga. bucket on my head.
It was not theatrical, legit western martial arts. Lots of broken equipment, various sports injuries. At that level there is a lot of respect and bravado is not tolerated.
(Jeremy in the red/gold in the background was one of the coaches for 'Full Metal Jousting')
The guy coaching me was getting out of the USAF to have more time with it. I got to meet 2 Field grade officers USMC and USN that resigned their commission to go full time with SCA stuff. I'm to beat up for that stuff now. So are you still active with it?Damn I had to many hobbies and was trying to get more.?
