I know this is always a debate, or discussion. Here are some thoughts, that I think are mostly obvious.

I added the lift and 37s a little over 2 months ago. My wife and I go camping a lot, we wheel, and it's my daily driver. I have always planned on a re-gear, but couldn't afford it at the time of the lift (and was too excited to wait).

  • Before the bigger tires, I averaged 15mpg consistently. Now I'm averaging 11.
  • It's definitely more sluggish on the road. I don't do much highway travel, except for when we camp. But on my commute to work (3 miles) I can notice the perceived power loss.
  • When pulling our camper (very small Tab 320 CS), the Gladiator now has a noticeably harder time.
  • Wheeling on the dunes is much more satisfying and I don't notice any issues, except if I try to go up a very steep incline.
  • I haven't had a chance to wheel on any trails yet (with the bigger tires), just sand so far.
I love the look. But it's definitely in need of a re-gear. I've almost got enough saved. I think after I get that done, it will be perfect. Hehe...

Looks great! With 37's you definitely need to regear. Keep on Camping!
