"Unmarry" it.
I should have been more clear. My ECRI device is purely an SGW bypass. I think they may also make a programmer too of sorts, something like a Tazer. So in my case all I do is unplug it and plug the wires back into the factory SGW.

If you have a Tazer then yes you'd unmarry it first then plug back into factory SGW before taking it in for service.

The off-road pages are vin locked. It's verified over the web every time you pull them up. You can use the ones on the instrument panel, but the ones on the 8.4" are OTA. Not sure it shows anything different though. Don't think so, other than coordinates.
I just got my JTR Saturday, and my off-road app no longer works. Does it really have something to do with the vin? Weird. I really like being able to see my oil pressure etc. Strange. I guess I'll call the dealer Monday.

Bingo.

There were times when I'd start my truck, especially when it was parked under the lean-to by my shop, I had no OR pages for a couple of miles and when that happened, it moved from the menu to another spot.
It's not been a problem since I started parking up in my garage as the door is usually open when I start it.
So, I installed a Warn winch in my garage, took it on a spin, and no off-road pages. I thought maybe by fishing the cables up to the battery, I unplugged something, but I couldn't see anything.

The error read "try again later".

No wonder it’s slow af, and probably explains why it randomly goes missing from your dock if you add it as a favorite.

Once again showcasing how security measures only end up impacting the “good” users.

And seriously, why does a glorified OBD app need to be behind such scrutiny? They literally use this data for their own systems for checks and balances. Reminds me of the awesome scene in CSI: “It’s a GUI interface using Visual Basic to track the killer’s IP address!”
Yeah, why would Jeep care about your oil pressure or temp? I, however, was tickled coming from a Tacoma that I could actually see that. Now two days after picking up my JTR (it took almost five months), the app no longer works, and the error says "check back later". Well, I was driving for an hour and it never came back.

The dealer might be able to help, it depends on how much time and effort they are willing to invest.

To fix it, the sales code for the 8.4 Uconnect needs to be added to your VIN in the FCA computer system. The head unit needs to be updated with the correct VIN, and then the truck computer needs flashed to load the sales code change. Getting all that done can be difficult, and is only possible if the 8.4 Uconnect was an available option for your VIN. If it was not an available option when the truck was built, the dealer will not be able to do anything to help you.
Mine is a new JTR (picked up two days ago), and it's part of the 2022 versions, so it was not only "an available option" but starting in 2022 it was part of the package. It certainly seems like a recurring problem that Jeep hasn't yet addressed. As a new truck, I'm not looking forward to leaving my Jeep at the dealer until they figure it out. Geez, I just spent two days putting in the Mopar lift, and a Warn winch. My back is killing me. I'm gonna have a beer.

Interestingly, I have the 8.4" with Nav. installed from the factory. 99% of the time, OffRoad pages works fine. Sometimes I access it to see elevations when traveling, and also to check temps on hot days, and whilst towing my 27', 5,300 lb travel trailer to make sure all is both hunky and dory.

There has been that rare occasion where I go to the screen to activate it after a fuel stop (shut off the truck, go empty one tank....mine , and then fill the other) and the icon has disappeared.

Strange, to say the least.

Next fuel stop after re-start, it appears again.

Has happened a few times...go figger... ? ? ? ? ?
Have you ever got the error message "try back later". I tried after an hour and no luck.

Do you have cellular signal? The good news is that it's all duplicated on the gauge cluster, if you scroll through. That will work no matter what cell reception is like. That one is built into the Jeep, it's not an app.

This is what I don't understand, ORP works only when a cell signal is available, seems a bit counter-productive as to when I would be using it. In the middle of nowhere is where it will be utilized...
That's bizarre. Why does it have to communicate to Mars just to see your oil pressure?

Ok, I'll try that instead of tearing my hair out! By the way, I love the MT in my JTR just as you said. The Tacoma TRDPro was a dog compared to the JTR. This weekend I put on the Mopar lift and Warn winch. The 35s next week. I'll report back and send some images. I hope I die before I have to give up my MT.

As far as I can tell yes. The two plugs that go into the Jeep's SGW would go into that cable and then the other end just leave it alone. I don't have that cable though so I can't say for sure. The cable has an SGW bypass built in so that should be enough to make your gauges work.

The only advantage then to the ECRI device is that it's smaller and doesn't have that excess cable to tie up and stash somewhere. You could use the ECRI instead of that cable if space under the dash is an issue.
So you just plug in the ECRI and ORP will show up?

With the factory installed 8.4 Uconnect and factory optioned Off-road Pages, it periodically checks in with FCA to verify that the VIN is authorized for the ORP app. If it is not verified, the app doesn't show up on the screen. That's how it worked when the JT was released, I don't know if FCA has made any changes over the years.
Apparently not. I just picked up my JTR Friday (built late April) and my ORP isn't working. The error says "check back later", I assume when it decides to check my VIN.

Did the head unit reset (lose power) while you were installing the winch? When it is reset, it can take up to 24 hours to return to normal operation. Drive it for a couple days and see if it goes back to normal.

Word on the street is that ORP require a check-in with the mother ship once in a while to confirm your are entitled to it. Did you pull the battery when you did the winch? The radio can take up to 24 hours to re-learn all of the options from the vehicle. ORP is one one of the last things to come back in my experience.

Let it sit overnight before getting too worried about it.
