Ok now… let’s take off tin foil hats and put pitchforks down folk. This is for generic advertising campaigns that thousands of other drivers receive. Nobody will go through your driving geolocation data and track you down to save few bucks. You and I are not that important as much as we like to think, if you are really serious about staying off the grid, toss your phone away.
That's what I thought. Can you imagine the sheer amount of data that would have to be parceled. Maybe AI facilitates it, but for most it won't make much difference. Besides, if they raise insurance rates because you go off-road or infrequently go over the speed limit, people will just get rid of their insurance after each year's registration, which they already do in New Mexico.

I let Ford do this so I can use the remote start from the app.

You hit the nail right on the head with the data management aspect ?.
For the GM concern the article mentioned looks like a hit piece by a law firm to capitalize on fear mongering, typical ambulance chaser kinda shit. Technology is not that scary once you understand it gramps…. just saying.

Not wanting to be tracked and bothered by yet another company is not "tin foil hat" territory. We're talking unwanted data collection, not mind control.
