I drive my JTM like I stole it on a daily basis, guess I was ahead of my time.
Here is an observation and also question.. Have you read or heard of a cam / follower issue from anyone that just "hammered" the skinny pedal? I only read about this where is seems that the owner is a "law abiding citizen"; I go with the Minty JL style of driving..

BTW.. If I could find away to disable that portion of the ESC system that keeps me from hanging out on corners .. I'm all ears.

LOL. I have a clean driving record........I just like to accelerate with a purpose LOL.

For your traction control issues......hold the "Traction Control" button until the dashboard lights up like Christmas tree......then you can have fun and let it hang out like your wang out LOL

Dang, I have a son only 3 years behind you.

I can't forget the first time I took to I80 east here with my car hauler in tow behind the Silverado - Aluminum LS engine.
I hit those hills and the danged thing wound up to roughly 5,000 RPM and I was thinking @$% this thing's gonna blow just trying to make these hills! (I was used to the older tach redlines)
and each time it hit one of those hills, she'd kick down, the tach would jump up and I made sure I had my cell phone to call a tow truck.
When I got back from my trip, I called the sales guy - who laughed at me and said "no problem, they race versions of these things at much higher RPM - it's normal, not an issue.
When I bought the truck, I made sure it could handle my towing needs and the sales guy brought in a couple of other LS-equipped Silverado owners who towed huge boats, higher, wider and heavier than my car hauler, through tougher hills, never a problem. But they never told me that it would kick down multiple gears and wind up so high.
That Chevy got me out of that "engines redline at 5,000 RPM" state of mind from the old days. Heck, every Javelin I ever owned saw 3,000-3,5000 RPM on the highway in high gear. And those were old-tech, old-school engines with crazy reciprocating and rotating masses.
LOL, yup a 45yo that still thinks their 18 but with some common sense and wisdom now.

Bill if I ever have the pleasure to meet you in person the beers or beverage of your choice is on me; I respect my elders LOL

LOL - I just was hit a certain way with that "comment" - and it's not you, just how it sounds in the situation my wife and I are in to save money on insurance.
My wife drives her Jeeps less than 5-7,000 miles a year - so we've always gotten a heft break on that for her. We've been accident and "ticket" free for years, so there's that.
insurance has shot up, even our company has finally had to adjust this past year. Our agent said with our records we might want to try something to save even more.
Yeah, we bit. My wife loves to save money (so she can splurge on other stuff she really WANTS)
Device in the vehicle, app on the phone. It tracks your speed, braking and acceleration and generates a score for your driving. Now I do push the limits - severe ADHD, I admit I am generally a go fast, waste no time on the road, get the heck out of my way type of person........ but I thought, ok, I'll bite - let's try this. It's nailed me a time or two because I do go 63 in a 55 and then suddenly the limit drops to 45 and crap, you are way over 10 more than the speed limit - DING. So I have learned to watch for the speed changes, drop quickly, for the lower limit to stay within their 9 mph grace and so on.
Anyway - it's sort of funny because even with that, and me having to raise my anxiety level 10-fold because of this app and device to stay in the "you'll save money" range, it's not a problem seeing RPM way up there, even close to redline at times.
You don't have to be a race car driver to keep the RPM up.
I'm sitting at 100% with that app "way to go, good job!" comes up, and yet my JT RPM is frequently up there above 3,000. Yes, even driving for saving money, when you hit ramps and our hills, you are going to go over 3,000 RPM, so that baffles me even more!

Seriously, with big brother watching my speed, braking and so on, I see RPM way above 3,000 frequently so how the heck is it that others rarely see it??
You don't have to be Kevin Fontenot to see RPM like that. (7.4 second 180 mph quarter mile with 5 speed manual transmission)

BINGO!
Wind it up, then shift (or let it shift)
Don't have to speed or defy any laws of acceleration.

LOL Bill.

I will be 45 this year........If I have a tach that goes to a certain RPM........I'm going to use what I paid for LOL
Yep. I only back off around 6k. It sees 5k every time it’s driven.

if you have a tazer. you just hold down the trc button and it kills everything. ABS, TRC, ESC, etc. I just leave mine stage one off and she swings wide enough to look cool before taking it back from me.

Thanks for the info. Did not know Tazer could do this function.

how the heck is it that others rarely see it??
No elevation changes, lots of traffic, a stop light/sign every couple of blocks and a max speed limit of 50 mph is how i rarely see it. Only way to see it is to punch it from a stop and hope I hit 3k before the next stop light but then I'll just look like one of those asshats in their loud hondas...

Sounds like the type of trip hard on any engine, no matter the era.

Agreed. Add to the fact that we spent 90 days above 100° last year with most of those being closer to 110° makes it all-around brutal on a vehicle. I try not to short trip it and I take it for a highway blast once a week if life permits.

I do not normally look at the oil pressure gauge. All of the times I have seen it, normally when scrolling through the dash functions, it has been at 30 psi. DieHardTony's post was new info for me. I tried to verify what he wrote my first time out. Tony was right and now I know it is as designed. Today I watched the oil pressure while I drove normally. I got over 3K RPM enough times to make me think I do NOT need to focus on occasional high speed runs.

FWIW, I was serious about making good time on the road until I started RVing. My claim to fame once was riding my motorcycle from Jacksonville to San Diego to Jacksonville in 92 hours. On the other hand, the RV's I have had are all very comfortable at 62 mph. I get in the right lane, turn on the radio, and let all the high speed traffic work their way around me. Driving the RV has changed my driving habits in my other vehicles. It is a relaxing way to travel.

I understand about saving cash truly it Flys out of the window sometimes. But I don't think a insurance company needs to track you in order to save you money. They are crooks. Pure and simple. Absolutely ? % no insult to you @ShadowsPapa. I despise, loath and detest insurance companies. In WV we have one of the highest rates already and they keep raising it. Insurance is a scam.
