Hi guys- I'm looking to buy a Mojave maybe in the next week of two. I've have some pretty crazy offers on my JL and hoping to maximize it while the market for used is hot.

I was about ready to order, but figured the chip shortage would make it take too long. No reason I couldn't order, bit would like to have the gladiator for the rest of summer if possible.

Dealers don't seem to want do drop prices on Gladiators on the lot (due to shortage), does anyone have any tips on getting the dealers to drop price at all?

Always open to pretend to be someone's family member for the friends and family discount- happy to trade with some decals! ?

Thanks!

Your at the mercy of supply and demand at this point.
Right now because of the shortage of used cars and new your getting a great deal on selling your JL, but at the same time dealers aren't budging on price. So it's a break even almost.

I know you probably don't want to wait another 30 days but you could go ahead and sign up with treadlightly for the 1% below invoice.

Yeah, that's about what I was thinking as well. If I wait, it'd be basically a wash I would think.

2 legit games you can play with on the lot negotiations - many CDJR dealerships are incentive based but not commission based. They get bonuses for volume and happy customers according to online surveys. So you can use that to get them to move incrementally. I got about $2k more on my trade because I repeatedly told them I would give them 10/10, if they gave me the deal I wanted. They were trying to tell me “we’ve never been this far apart before” on my trade. Yeah ok. Second thing is, check the dealer lot online before you show up, and see if anything cheaper than what you’re willing to pay is listed in transit. Could be a different model altogether. Go there to buy that one, and when they don’t have it make them work to up sell you on what you want, and if in some unlucky twist they do have the vehicle that was in transit make it known you’re disappointed in the options. Lots of people don’t like to play the games. I sorta do for some sick reason. I’m not a jerk or a dick, I’m very friendly yet firm, engaging, which usually is reflected back at me. Sometimes I do ok, sometimes I don’t but these two things have netted me good results in dealer negotiations of late.

The same reason for your high trade value as the non-negotiable prices on new.

Shortages everywhere and it seems everyone wants to buy because there is a shortage.

Agree on all below, plus be willing to use their financing up front in the negotiations, you can always pay it off, refinance or whatever after wards, negotiate on extended warranty up front as well. Dealers can make more off these items most times. So if they know they have some margin on that side of the fence they are more willing to move off the price of the vehicle. Now you still have to negotiate on the financing and warranty. Example some dealers will drop your rate a small percentage with an extended warranty. So in the end you can drop the vehicle price. On my Sport I got off the lot as it was color and softop that I wanted by the end the dealer was removing the running boards , mud flaps , taking off the nitrogen charge so they did not have to hassle with a refill of the tires to keep lowering the price of the vehicle. I actually got a lower rate with them shopping it with all the banks , they got their spiff from the financing and warranty , I got my JT for less than I could have ordered at below 8%. But you have to be able to walk at anytime and not all dealers will entertain , has to be high volume. And it is fun in the same sick reason.

2nd time around for the wife JL it was about 30 minutes of emails with same dealer and go and pick it up.

Check and see if youre company is part of the affiliate program and then you won't even need tread lightly. Otherwise that may be your best shot at this point.

Bought mine off the lot the first week of June. Very little negotiation on the JT, but they honored their internet advertised price, which was already discounted. They did negotiate on my trade though. I went with the high number from KBB and they low balled me on the trade. I stuck to my number and walked, surprisingly they didn't call me back so my tactic failed for probably the first time ever. I ended up calling them back and we met in the middle on my trade price and while we were away I was able to have my wife check and see if she got any discounts with her work (the State of Texas) and she was able to get another $500 off the price of the JT. Overall I was happy with the outcome as I got a great price on my trade.

I think you'll be lucky to get anything off. I just bought two cargo vans for work. They wouldn't even drop $500 combined on the two.

My f150 lease was over in october and I went to ford and asked how much they would pay to get it back. Walked out with a $7500 check. That was cool. Now Ford and Jeep are racing to see who can get my Bronco and/or Gladiator to me last.
