onX Offroad

I'd love to get this to work with my in dash CarPlay system. I'm starting a campaign to get them to develop this.

Anyone else want to drop them a line?

I think being able to use the program with vehicle navigation units would be outstanding. I will make sure to pass this information along to our team and submit a feature request to see if this is something we can implement in to the program in the future. Canned "we got your request" message from hitting up support on the mobile app. Nothing more as of yet.

Still doesn't work with Android and 8.4 screen CarPlay. I haven't tried Gaia yet on my iPhone. I like the look of the OnX better, but fumbling with the phone while on a trail was no fun.

Tried both. Like both.

Onx does not allow you to download maps to your tablet sd card. Gaia does.

The first time i downloaded a few maps, onx ran my brand new tablet out of memory and i had a blank 128gb sd card sitting empty.

Gaia, no issue.

Contacted tech support. Was told that they dont support that functionally. End of story.

Gaia is the way to go! I’ve been using it for a couple years, excellent! And now that I’ve got my JT with carplay, you‘ve got a GPS tablet built right into the dash... awesome!

Yup. Used Gaia today on my screen. Tracked my Jeep on trail in mountains with no cell signal.
I do recommend you orient your phone properly so the arrow shows your actual direction.

OnX had an opening for Director of Product Management last week. I gave applying a lot of thought but didn’t pull the trigger. Short opening time so maybe they’re just promoting from within. Maybe the new director will implement changes like this.

I signed up for Gaia Premo yesterday after testing it with Apple CarPlay...it's exactly what I want: Offroad GPS on my nav screen.

Now I just need to learn how to use it. Also may need a CB radio to call in a helicopter.

Just subscribed to Gaia, sorry to have to bail on the OnX maps I have but having a tablet mount it a PITA to use when we have a big screen built in.

Consider GMRS for your radio needs. Most are using that now.
