I have been talking with a dealership about leasing a Gladiator and when I asked for the lead time of a custom order, he said:

"2 - 3 weeks. You must hurry though factory orders shut down Next Tuesday until 2021" (I assume he meant 2020)

Is this true?

Any time a dealer says "you must hurry" a red flag goes up. Not saying they're wrong, just saying hold on, time to hit pause and double check.

In my experience lead times for a special order are 6 to 10 weeks. Not sure about the cutoff date for special orders but I'd swear it's way beyond November.

I'd just get a second opinion. Call a couple other dealers and ask about lead times and cutoff dates.

That was my initial thought too. But, this was the only local dealership that let me test drive one, and didn't pester me about buying right away (back when they first hit the lots), and they have been honoring the 4-5% below invoice to other members.

4 to 5% under invoice sounds good. But other dealers aren't letting you test drive? Please elaborate. If a dealer says I can't test drive a rig I'm about to drop $50K on, I'd think it's time to walk.

They aren't shutting down for inventory or some reason? My father worked at a factory for years and I recall back in the late 70s and early 80s things shut down and he had mandatory time off as they did some sort of inventory or something. Of course strikes were another thing..... AMC had an issue in late 69 where production was shut down for a couple weeks or so.
But shut down for the rest of the year? That's huge..........

Wow - the dealer here said "there's plenty of gas, drive it around a while, hit town, get onto the interstate...." and he handed me the keys and went back inside.
Jealous!!! That's awesome! And cute cat!

Thanks - that's Koko as a kitten of about 10 weeks. He and his brother are Tonkinese, a breed more like dogs than cats. He always looked like he had a scowl. They can't stand to be away from us.

Yeah, when he didn't get into the vehicle but instead walked away I was like - gee, normally they are breathing down your neck while you drive and you get to go around the block a time or two.

Yes and no

The Dealer November Allocation cutoff is nov 12th and will reopen early December...

There are build outs for the 2019 model year that are done this month but not the 2020 Gladiator

All markers are Green for it ...

What do you mean by 'build outs'? Will there be any difference in the Gladiators built early 2020? Is it worth waiting for? Or will it be the same exact thing?
