Ordered a trailer!

Placed my order this morning for a Hiker Trailer.
They’re about $20,000 less than other offerings on the market and they seem to have quite the cult following.

After researching RTT vs Trailer this is what we decided works best for us.
It’s 5x9, should be tough enough to be dragged where we need it to go and most importantly isn’t a ground tent (my wife loves camping but is over sleeping on the floor).
Anyone on here got one?

I don’t have any experience with one but I am definitely interested to hear what you think of it, especially after you have taken it offroad. I really lean this direction also vs. an RTT. I have always just thrown a tent on the ground but there are times when I’m sure there is a better way to go.

I currently run an RTT on a bedrack but the packing up each morning gets old. Not to mention, with my kid being 2 and seemingly growing a foot by the day, we're debating on trailer or full-blown RV and towing the Gladiator.

Yeah the lead time on them is around the 3 month mark but I’ll for sure update once we have it.

We priced roof top tents. Once you add a rack and the other stuff required, we were around $4500. I don’t really want to drive around with one on the bed full time either. I like having a tonneau, too.

Before we found Hiker, we were completely turned off on the square drop/ tear drop trailers. Purely on price. Not a chance I would pay $40,000 for a trailer like that.

We went bare bones on the Hiker mainly because I can add what I want to it myself. That’s the beauty of them. We’re in it for right around $9500 which is great.
The Gladiator remains unchanged, we can just hitch up and away we go.

We looked at those too before ordering. The galley in the Hiker was much more suited to what we are after.

Luckily, we got our RTT slightly before the craze on Craigslist for $800 (including the annex).

But I understand the dilemma...once you’re spending close to $5k for RTT and rack/bars, what’s another $2-3k for something way more comfortable and durable.

If we go the trailer route, we’ll prob mount the RTT on the trailer for some extra room. #SoManyOptions

If you were looking for a galley the Hiker was definitely the right choice. Outbound is pretty basic.

It’s their standard red. I’m color blind, though, so it looks spot on to me!

Yes! We’ve managed to spend 10 nights in it so far this year (or there abouts).
We took it to Colorado, it’s been used in the Ozarks and is about to get some more use over the coming few weeks of hunting season.

Absolutely love it. Hardly notice it behind the Jeep. We did 2500 miles to Colorado and back with plenty of mountain driving. Got 16mpg on that trip which is pretty good going considering I usually get 19 to and from work here in flat Arkansas.

Glad we went bare bones as we are starting to get a feel for what we want and actually need rather than buying everything at the start.

Compared to other options, they are positively cheap.

Rooftop tent set up would have cost somewhere around $4500. Which wouldn’t work for my family. I’m glad we paid a few thousand more for all the benefits of a trailer

ours is the midrange. I of course wanted to go for a more “off-road” style but the wife persuaded me otherwise. I’m glad she did. We were able to take the midrange everywhere we wanted to go, no problem.
