Hello. So a few of you have seen my first build, which we used quite a few times and loved. It worked well, towed nicely, and got a lot of attention wherever we went. However, it had it's downsides. Storms would require us to pack everything up, and it's height/weight made it a little top heavy when not loaded down with gear.
So I'm in the process of selling that one and picked up my next project. A small 4x6 enclosed trailer that I think, will fit our needs even better.

So far I have a 270 Overland Vehicle Systems awning, (2) 10.6 gallon water tanks, an on-demabd water heater/shower set-up, a set of 2,200lb Timbren axle-less units, and a good idea how I want it to turn out.

So as for now, I'm in the "planning" and "gathering" stage. I painted the interior of the trailer with a mold fighting primer and may carpet it depending on what I can get my hands on.

Placed a water tank about where it will be installed to see how it fits. I love how it uses up some of the wasted space behind the door frame. I have one for each side. I think they'll work perfectly.

Timbren axle-less setup. 2,200lb units with brakes. Wow, these things are beefy.

Looks promising man!
Thanks! I've been following your build, and to be honest, it's what partially spurred this idea. I have alot of planning and figuring out to do yet, mainly in the roof support/tent and awning mounting system.

Awesome. Im sure my handy-work leaves alot to be desired by alot of folks. Woodworking and shelving stuff aint my wheel house. Its coming along now and I hope to have it out of "sitting in the garage" mode within the next two weeks.

Ive been thinking about awnings and such, may try a DIY 270 awning im not sure yet. Also trying to think about hot water shower. I saw someone take a gladiator bed rack (dont recall what brand, whats the one you can get the big storage bins on the side?) and they cut it down to fit their offroad trailer. Looked pretty good.

Anyhow, looking forward to see what ideas I can steal... I mean what you come up with. :D

4” lift timbren? Im doing the same at some point soon. Was looking at the 3500hd but they might overkill. My trailer is about 1000lbs empty as it sits.

you should look up some new or used rv windows too. Get some light into the unit. What colour you going with?

So I was going to do windows, but we won't be staying inside of it. I'm getting another RTT for above it. It's a 4x6' trailer, and I'm 6'5", so it'd be a little cramped. I know mine weighed 570lbs empty, so I figured with all the gear in it, the 2,200lb Timbren's should be about right. And they are just the standard height axles. Also, I wanted to keep the COG as low as possible, and I needed to keep the overall height low so it'll fit in my garage. And I went with "Basalt Grey" from Raptor liner. I'll post pictures of the setup the next time I head out to the garage.

Not sure if you plan to insulate. it Would be recommend if you plan on anyone sleeping in in. I see you have an RTT, so may be not.

Sanded, primed and bedlined the trailer on Sunday. Better pictures coming. Also ordered a Redarc Manager 30 for the trailer, and a brake controller for the JT. Figured I don't want to mess around, and want to be able to be self sufficient for as long as possible off-grid, should the opportunity arise.

Since you have options on tire size now is a good time to decide, to "up-size tires" and match rim lug pattern. A past advantage for YJ though ZJ Jeep's was the 5×4.5 bolt pattern same as many trailer's. A reason I built my own XJ Jeep trailer in GA. matching tires and rims. It ups cost on tires but adds clearance, second spare tire and possible better "ride" for trailer.

I agree 100%. I ordered my Timbren axles with 5x4.5" hubs (not the same as my JT but I have (2) YJ's at home with that size hub). I plan on going with 31"-33" tires for better clearance. The tires pictured are what were on it when I bought it, and I can't wait to put some real sneakers on this thing.
