Hi I am in the process of ordering either a mojave or a rubicon.

There are a few questions I have that I can't find the answers to. I pretty much want a stripped gladiator with just a few options like AUX SWITCH GROUP, TOW PACKAGE, SPRAY IN BED LINER, AUTOMATIC tranny AND MUD TERRAINS.

Since it would be coming with the 7inch screen would I not be getting the OFFROAD + button AND OFFROAD PAGES. Is this part of the 8.4 screen package.
Also I know that in the Mojave u are supposed to be able to use rear locker both in 4 lo and 4 hi. Is that part of the offroad pages stuff meaning if I get it with the 7inch screen I don't have capabilities to do any of this. This is really not advertised or described well. And at the dealerships they are pretty much clueless. Hopefully someone in here can help me with some info. Thanks

I have the Mojave with the 7” screen. You do get the off road + button in that configuration. Not sure on the locker in 4 high, haven’t tried that yet. From what I know; you don’t need the off road pages screen to do that.
here is a video I found a while back explaining how to do it. They have the 8.4” screen but it’s not touched in the sequence.

Movia80,

Do you plan on lifting it in the future?
the only thing i would probably be doing is 35's so i wouldnt need a lift. that would work perfect for me. I am torn between the Rubicon and the Mojave. My brother has a 2014 JKU Rubicon Anvil color and is a beast it will go alot of places.

I love the Rubicon 4 : 1 transfer case but do i really need that low in the truck since i wont be wheeling like our other jeeps thats why i was leaning to the Mojave cause it has the rear locker that supposedly can be used in 4HI and 4Lo which is nice but u lose the locker up front and sway bar disconnects. I would just add sway bar disconnects on the Mojave and pretty much could get through alot without front locker for me.

I know they say they beefed up the frame and cast iron knuckles on the Mojave which is a nice touch also the shocks and suspension with the 1inch added lift as they clame.

I dont know what to do. what do u guys think.

THe Offroad pages aren't needed for the Rear locker in 4Hi or Lo. I have the most base Mojave you can get...6spd, soft top, 7" screen...only option was the tow hitch.

I went with the Mojave based off of the offroad I do. Mostly fire service roads, logging roads (NO rock crawling). The suspension is perfect for that...more hisgh speed, rutted type of driving. I absolutely LOVE it!

yes thats pretty much what i want. I want the softop for sure and aux switch group that why i just hook up whatever i want under the hood everything is snaked through the firewall and i dont have to pull apart the dash. definately want the tow package so thats also why i opted for the 8-speed auto. every jeep i have had between CJ's and YJ's have been manuals so i would have definately bought the manual but after taking a test ride in the Mojave with the 8 speed auto, wow what a difference in how it goes. If this was a 2 door or a 4 door then no questions all day would get the Rubicon. (and yes i know they dont offer a Mojave in the JL's anyway.) but to me the beefier frame and cast iron knuckles with the suspension and 1 inch lift are good points. the 2.72:1 should be low enough and more than capable.

I traded my 2017 Recon JKU for my first Gladiator. The crawl rate to me (again, I'm not a rock crawler) is much better on the Mojave. I haven't cursed at it to go faster yet :)
I loved the Auto in the Gladiator! My Sport S was an Auto and I kind of regret not getting it in the Mojave, but I do enjoy the manual too.. Don't think you can go wrong there!

i would say find the truck with the options you want and go with that, either trim will sport 35s.

i went Mojave for the upgraded frame/ steering and for the type of off-roading i’ll be doing. I really only plan to go to the beach and maybe the lake. I’m not into rocks so it is fine for me.

If you plan to lift in the future you will have to decide if you want to replace those shocks and the Mojave has those wonderful shocks… most cringe at the idea of swapping them out.

I had asked some questions about the Mojave before I ordered mine. It really boils down to how you're going to use it. If you're going to do serious rock crawling, the Rubicon is the way to go. If not, go with the Mojave. One guy in AZ said there a desert run he did in his Rubi that bounced him around a ton doing 20-25 MPH and he could do 40 in the Mojave and it was a smooth ride.

I think it was a YouTube review that I saw that said the Mojave can do about 90% of what the Rubicon can but the Rubicon can only do about 50% of what the Mojave can. YMMV.

That was me, I'm the one guy in AZ! And that's an excellent synopsis of the two models, which I'm sure won't go over well with the Rubi owners, and I'd agree based on previously owning a Rubicon; a Mojave can do 90% of what a Rubicon can while a Rubicon can do about 50% of what a Mojave can.

You live in Massachusetts. I grew up there my whole life. There's nowhere in sight to really use a Mojave as a Mojave, just the road is going to be more plush. But you can change out shocks to be the same ones Mojave uses except the added benefit of being adjustable.

You are more looking at muddy trails and granite rocks to work with in New England, so I vote Rubicon for you, and if you want the more plush street ride, change the shocks.

For me it boiled down to road manners. Either trim is fine for +90% of the off-roading most folks are gonna end up doing , but face it , all these vehicles spend the majority of their lives on pavement. I test drove all the trims levels , and some of them with both tire options. Hands down the Mojave with ATs rode and handled the best , IMO. Charlie
