Seeing how well the JL fits 37"s with just a 2-3 inch lift, makes me think I'll likely go with 37"s on the diesel JT when I get one. Just curious. How do y'all think we'll have to carry over sized spares. What's the biggest size y'all think will fit in the factory position? Other carrying ideas.
I'm not a big fan of the Baja truck bed method. I want my bed to be functional.

My guess based off of how the JL Rubicon was designed around fitting a 35" tire upgrade without much work they would go the same route in the factory location. At a minimum a 285/70 tire will likely fit if they are keeping the JL Rubicon-esque route with the JT. And most of us who do any heavy wheeling would likely want to move it from under the bed anyways so it could be a non issue.

My guess is also a 35" stock under the bed. I'm really hoping a 37" will fit but not banking on it.

With that said Im sure there will be both swing out tire carriers similar to that of the Wrangler and Baja Style bed mounts (both up by the cab and tailgate replacements.

Like you I want to keep my bed useable, but I also dont like how swingouts look on pickups, so Im not sure what to do yet.

I might just run a 35" under the bed and keep it as a "emergency spare" I can't image it being any worst then a donut on any other car, and just use it to slowly get to a tire shop.

I hope they do a relocation spare by the cab like where it is located on the gladiator concept. Love that look.

I personally don't. As it would be very limited to what size tire you could put there as it would block the rear doors.

It seems that with the likely horrible breakover and departure angle on these JT's, a 3.5" lift and 37"s are going to be pretty common. My use will be a moderate wheeler and overland rig. Now I know that the 37"s are likely overkill for the overland stuff, but should be just right for moderate crawling. I just hope that regeared with the 3.0 it will maintains some of the diesel's fuel economy. For overlanding fuel economy is important. Hoping to get around (22 highway on the 37's with the new ecodiesel and proper gearing. We'll see.

This is kind of what I'm picturing I would end up with. But of course a swing out would limit tailgate down loads

I just hope 35s will fit. My hope is a stock Rubicon height with 35s. I agree if you’re really crawling, the worst place to have your spare is underneath. I think each build will dictate spare tire placement, with concessions. If you build a crawler, it’ll lose capabilities as a hauler. For me, bed use is important so no lift, no swing away, 35s max. I’m interested in hauling Mtn Bikes, an occasional Moto, camping and skiing crap. Daily driver...

Man I hope the bed is as square as those AEV conversions are.
