Retrofitted a radio that resemble that in my 96' F150. What I find finicky is the wireless carplay, the whole dongle situation to add, that custom app that connects but sometimes loses the signal or struggles connecting. I wouldn't call that seamless but does the job.
I had that setup in the past as well. This is completely different software that so far has been seem less. The older software was called zlink and this software is Car Link 2.0.

Overal, this unit is majorly improved over the older units I have had. Including the PX6 models.

Are you permitted to say where you picked up an open-box unit? And did you spring for the OBDII adapter they list as an add-on?

Thanks for all your help. One last question. How is the glare on a screen this big, and with the top off? I could imagine it may get washed out by the sunlight, but I was thinking about applying a matte screen protector if I was to end up getting one.

I had the panels off on a sunny day last weekend. I could still read and use the screen. It doesn’t seem to be any worse for that than the original. The screen is a matt finish.

How is it driving at night? Some screens are too bright at night.

It does have dimming options if that sort thing bothers you. I have done a lot of night driving yet, but it seems ok to me.

I will try to get a video of the screen in daylight, too off and at night. It is supposed to be nice all weekend here so should be no problem.

I looked at the screen again and it isn’t quite a matte finish but not super glossy either.

I wonder if there is an input like the OEM screen to control the dimming via the knob on the left of steering wheel
It dims automatically when the lights are on and you can adjust how much it dims from the top status bar.

Where are you adjusting how much it dims? You mentioned on the status bar?

How is the HVAC controls working since they are so small on the screen? Do you have the ability to make them larger? Can the Carplay Nav be larger and say the radio page (vehicle FM) be smaller or is that only for say Pandora/other streaming?
