I’ve personally ran a 12.5 on stock wheels and so have a few friends without any issues other than a bit more wear on the center tread

working on a few of my friends Jeeps, we all run the same tire but run different widths
From left to right, my buddies 10” wide wheel, my 9” wide and a stock 7.5” wide. Can see the stock wheel stands slightly taller from squeezing the tire

Anyone running 35x12.50's on their stock 17" rims? All the tire manufacturers say the rim is too narrow but wondering if anyone has tried it and what were the results. Did you mount spacers and/or a lift or leveling kit?
I wondered the same. Asked if a 17 inch 7.5 stock wheel would be able to run a 35x12.5x17 .. Response from a forum rep of Discount tire is below ...

That’s interesting that Discount tire will put that in writing where it is not within the manufacturer recommended wheel sizes.

315 Patagonias on stock rims with a 2.5" leveling kit, the bumper and winch brought it down to 1.75" instead. The 315s are around 34.6" @ 36 psi with no issues and right about a half inch clearance full rack. Great ride, outstanding sound, little bit of poke (no Max tow), no problem matching to the 3.73, plenty of power and crawl, and that size looks stunningly perfect for the wheel well. You won't have issues.

And no rub?! Which tires? I want to rock 35"s on stockers, but not a fan of the skinnier ones that fit.
Initially yes, lower control arms but only slightly but with my drop brackets I dont believe I touch anymore. At least feels like I dont touch. I will be grabbing a set of Mojave wheels off a local guy that I bought my Mojave suspension off of. I just want a bit wider stance
